Thank you very much for replying. I was not aware that they have a dedicated forum for the pro version, could possibly provide me with a link ?
Regarding the subject, it seems wise not to update it, after all, as mentionned, I would be unable to do so…
As a matter of fact, the temporary fix suggested by @milkkore does work with me. I deactivated the “Speed up image load times” in Jetpack and all images show correctly again. There was an update of the Jetpack plugin recently, so I presume it is a Jetpack issue.

Same problem here, I rolled back to 3.3.11 for the time being.
Because of other various issues with other plugins, I installed the “Rollback” plugin which I used as well to roll back to 3.3.6.
The Rollback plugin is easy to use, suggest you give it a try.Ok, I am now on PHP 7.1.12 and NextGEN 2.2.33 and everything seems to work perfect. Thanks for all your help and patience.

To be honnest, I do not have the knowledge and required competence to create a staging site. I would have to talk to my webhoster about that.
But do you think the following would work?:
1.Deactivate the NextGen plugin
2.Copy all files and subdirectories (via FTP) from the wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/ to a local disk.
3.Download the v2.2.30 zip file and manualy unzip the files locally.
4.Copy these via FTP to wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/
5.Reactivate the plugin and check if all works fine
6.If not: Overwrite (via FTP) all files in wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/ with those copied under 2.
What do you think ?I am completely with you Cais, I am always keeping all plugins and WordPress upgrades up-to-date but in this particular case I do need somebody to confirm that NextGEN 2.2.30 will work with PHP 5.6.6 before I do the plugin update since I will have to stay with PHP 5.6.6. for some time.
Well, my webhoster downgraded to PHP 5.6.6 in order for the NextGEN version 2.2.18 to work. I am now hesitating to upgrade to 2.2.30 since my webhoster decided to stay on PHP 5.6.6. for a while. So, to answer your question: My site works fine with PHP 5.6.6. and NextGEN 2.2.18 but I did not do the upgrade to NextGEN 2.2.30 yet because I am not sure if it will work under PHP 5.6.6.
I would like to avoid having to perform a “roll back” from NextGEN 2.2.30 to 2.2.18 because of the danger of loosing all, or part of the galleries (not even considering the rest of the rather complicated “roll back” procedure).Welcome.
Can you 100% confirm that 2.2.30 works with PHP 5.6.6. ?
Thank you, see my answer in the other thread…., but again: Thank you very much indeed !
@edanzer: Thank you very much indeed for this information. But considering I have no control over the php version of my site and I would have to involve my webhoster who isn’t always available, I’d rather wait till other users have confirmed correct functionality till I ask him to upgrade. I do hope in your understanding. But glad to read you guys worked so hard on it.
Thank you.
The http upload was by error disbaled in in the php.ini file when switching back to PHP 5.6.6. This has now been solved. All fine. Waiting now for the next stable PHP 7.2.x version since under PHP 5.6.6. the site has become slower but is otherwise ok.
