Ok Sorry for the confusion. I’ll walk you through my newbie version. I am using the salient theme. So I’ve downloaded and uploaded the photo to my word press media folder, after creating a home page and adding content, I wanted to create a static page so that the image could be placed on the home page and as you slide up and down the scroll side bar you could see the image and my content below. Now the way I was attempting to add the image was I went to home slider -add new-uploaded the image that I had previously downloaded- created my call to action (added text in the caption and button fields)-and then save draft and publish.
