    Hi,

We are sorry to hear that you have had such a non-positive experience.

Weglot only stores the translations generated for your website and doesn’t store the translated post directly.
Indeed, actually, Weglot translation mechanism is working like this:

    1. It scans the original content of your website (HTML file)
    2. After the scan, Weglot parses (read and cut) the elements between HTML tags.
    3. It automatically translates this original content to its translated equivalent and stores the translations
    4. During the translation process, Weglot is also storing these contents in your Translation List available in your Weglot Dashboard

We’ll be glad to provide you with an export of all the translations if you want to keep a backup of these translations.

    Hi,

We are sorry to hear that you have had such a non-positive experience.

Note that at the end of your Trial period, your subscription will become a Free plan that allows you to translate until 2000 words.
As long as you’ll translate less than 2000 words, the translation account will be active on your website and you’ll keep your translations in your Translation List.
Note that if your account is Free and inactive, i.e there are no API requests for several weeks, the project can be automatically deleted.

If you’re translating more than 2000 words, Weglot can stop working fine as long as the limit of translation is exceeded. You’ll here able to either reduce the word counter or maybe try to work with a plan that can fit better with your translation needs.

    Hi Matej,

Thanks a lot for your message.

I’ve found the conversation you’re currently having with one of our support members, and I’ve just sent you a message to try to help you further.

    1.?About the slow translated pages
The load time can be longer the first time Weglot translates the content, and then be way better on the second visit to the page.

Indeed, Weglot translation mechanism is working like this:

    1. It scans the original content of your website (HTML file)
    2. After the scan, Weglot parses (read and cut) the elements between HTML tags.
    3. It automatically translates this original content to its translated equivalent.
    4. During the translation process, Weglot is also storing these contents in your Translation List available in your Weglot Dashboard

The translation is made server-side in order to allow the translated versions to be translated for SEO purposes.

?Solution => Are you currently working with a cache plugin on your website? If you do, could you let me know which cache plugin are you currently managing?
?If you don’t, could you try to install a cache plugin and check on your website if it seems to work better with the cache system?
    ?

2.?About the generation of ?automatic translations, be aware that?Weglot generates a translation every time it meets new content, that’s why it’s able to translate your whole website in a few seconds/minutes.
Weglot matches a translation with specific original content.??Translations are generated and added progressively to your?Translation List?when someone visits your website in the translated language.?

Weglot proposes a solution to stop translating specific content on your website by excluding blocks or URLs from translation.
It means that the excluded content won’t be translated at all.

    – Exclude Blocks –
If you want to exclude a specific part of your website, go to your Weglot Dashboard > Project Settings (Exclusions) > Exclude block section.
There, you can paste the right CSS selector of the block you want to exclude.

    To find the CSS selector:
    – Right-click on the element you want to exclude
    – Go to “Inspect”
    – Use the arrow on the top left of the console
    – Click on the element you want to exclude
    – Copy the class or the id of this element.
    – Go to your Weglot Dashboard > Project Settings (Exclusions) Exclude Blocks field
    – Paste the class (add a dot before the class) or the id (add a # before the id) in the tiny box, then click on “Add”
    – Save your changes

    – Exclude URLs –
If you want to exclude URLs, you can do it directly from your Weglot Dashboard > Project Settings (Exclusions) > Exclude URL section.
Only add the relative URL of the page that you want to exclude.
For instance, if your page is https://www.mywebsite.com/page1/, only add the relative URL: /page1 (with the status “Match Regex” or “Contains”)

we’re pleased to send you the documentation regarding the exclusion with Weglot
See >?How to exclude URLs/blocks/words from translation?

?? I can notice that you deleted your project.
?If you can let us another chance, we’ll be really glad to help you further with the exclusion of content you no longer want to translate.
?How can we improve the experience you had with our plugin?
    ?
?Don’t hesitate to come back to us directly in the email thread at [email protected] so we can help you further.

    Wishing you a wonderful day,

    The Weglot Team

    Hi Daniel,

We are sorry to hear that you have had such a non-positive experience.

Actually, be aware that Weglot does not translate your website instantly when you install the plugin.
Translations are generated and added progressively to your?Translation List?when a visitor (or search engines such as Google bots) navigates on your website in the translated language(s).
This could be the reason why the word counter could have increased on your project.

Be sure that we want our users to enjoy working with our plugin and be satisfied with the service we propose, so we don’t want to force our users to upgrade their accounts if they don’t want to.

Weglot proposes solutions to help you come back under the Free plan limit :

    – Remove translations to try to go back under the translations limit
(see => How to definitely remove a translation?)

    – Remove potential inactive translations
(see =>?How?can I remove inactive translations?)

    – Exclude some URLs or blocks from translation?to try to go back under the?translation?limit
(see =>How to exclude URLs/blocks/words from translation?)
(Don’t forget to remove the translations regarding the URL you have excluded)?

Could you contact us at?[email protected]? We’ll be glad to help you keep managing the Free plan.

    Hi,

We are sorry to hear that you have had such a negative experience.

The behavior you’re describing doesn’t sound like the way Weglot works on WordPress websites. Indeed, Weglot stores the translations on its end and translations shouldn’t be stored in your database.

By uninstalling Weglot plugin into your WordPress admin > Plugins, the whole Weglot code should be removed. You could still find Weglot filters in your functions.php file in your WordPress admin > Appearances > Theme Editor, if you had manually added such filter codes previously, however, Weglot filter codes in your functions.php shouldn’t do anything and shouldn’t overwhelm your database at all.

Could you contact us at [email protected] as the issue doesn’t seem related to Weglot? We’ll try to help you enlighten the situation and, if it’s finally something related to Weglot, we’ll be able to help you further as well.

    Hi Mkofik,

?We are sorry to hear that you have had such a negative experience. We could not locate your account with your username and do not quite understand what issue you encountered. From what we gather, If you set up, for example, English to French, Weglot will translate your site only into French and not all languages.

Using Weglot, you will be able to exclude blocks or URLs from translation.

In your case you can exclude brand and model names.

Please contact our team at [email protected] so that one of our team members can discuss your concerns in more detail.

Actually, we do have a free plan for small websites under 2000 words that you can use without time limit.
If you need more words, then you can switch to a paid plan.
This is written on the plugin page and also on our website pricing page.
