The server error at hand when trying to follow the account on Mastodon is consequently:

Still getting the error below with every follow-request sent:

On another WP site I’m also stuck at an OpenSSL related error. It’s identical to what’s reported here (although that topic is closed now). https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/mastodon-does-not-seem-to-see-my-instance/

For now, I’m ignoring the fact that both sites run on an identical webserver which drives me crazy obviously ?? Nonetheless, anyone that has some pointers is more than welcome to share them here.

@opendna yes, this is exactly what I’ve been doing so far. Sure, that works. But still, I’d prefer it to be the way it seems to be intended..

Thank you for replying @opendna, and confirming Webfinger. I also noticed the followers, myself being one of them as well. I have been following that particular account for some weeks and have published in that time period as well. However, those posts don’t show up in my timeline because, I believe, the follow request is still pending.

I hope you had a nice holiday @pfefferle! If possible, can you check both links above so see whether something is setup wrong? I am still unable to follow myself in the fediverse due to the ‘pending’ status (retried several times). Thank you in advance.

To stay on-topic, it only concerns site 1. But site 2 puzzles me (even more).

@pfefferle can I temp you into troubleshooting this with me? I can offer you two almost identical WP sites running on an identical webserver (specs are listed above). It’s a shared webhosting environment but I have a rather willing webhosting company. On one website, the plugin works just fine and on the other it simply doesn’t. I’m tech savvy so I’d hope it will not cost you to much of your scarce time. We could use Matrix for easy communication and report back here afterwards?
