Yes I have. I’ve send an email to the maker of this theme. This was his answer:
Simply create a new page titled “Collage 1”. And from there, you can set your custom featured image for that collage. The WordPress guidelines was so that content had to be pulled from pages rather than text and image fields from inside the widget.
