Thanks for the response, John. That sounds like the solution. (I’m hesitant to upgrade my version of PHP just because I have so many other old plugins and themes on my network — I’m worried about breaking some of the older stuff. But that’s a predicament entirely of my own making, so I’ll figure it out.)

This has happened to me as well. I’m on WordPress version 4.9.9 with a site network and I’m seeing this across different themes and subsites.

I’m having the same problem! If I put in invisible spaces ( ) in the text editor, the titles work, but they break again when I switch over to the visual editor and the invisible spaces become regular spaces again.

Chiming in to add that I’m having this problem too. Theme is Weaver II, both CKEditor and WordPress are current versions. I would roll back to a previous version of CKEditor, but I don’t think it would be compatible with WP 3.5.1.
