I just had a thought regarding this.

Wouldn’t it be best to just set up a local site on my own computer vs. even having it be live on the web… and worrying about it being indexed by search engines.

I’ve never run a local wordpress site, so I don’t even know how to do that.

Is it easy? How do you run the database?? It scares me to be honest, because I don’t know how the hell to do it.

I’ve always just built my sites on the web. Thanks for any help that can be offered.

Well, my dramas finally come to an end.

I want to thank CubeColour for laying it out in simple terms for me.

In the end, that is the method that I used to set my new site up.

My old site is working fine, and I chose to block the search engines on my new site, until it is fully developed.

Now, I just need to continue to learn how to make the transition from one site to the next, easy for Google to pick up on, so that there is no downtime with Google indexing the pages either. … or loosing any page rank that the site has for that matter.

Any tips on that would be appreciated.

I took a look.

I would first try to add the following rule to the top of your stylesheet in the WordPress dashboard. Like after your main rules like body etc…

.slideInfoZone {
display: none;
}

It may be as simple as that, so do that and see if it works.

Yes, read that article on Installing WordPress from the codex.

But basically you will be creating a database on your server first, and then uploading the WordPress files via FTP, and then going to the install.php link for WordPress to run the installation.

You will need to download the latest version of WordPress first, to get the WordPress Files.

But in short, read that article in the codex a few times…

But yes, I would think you could just paste it to the top of that file that Esmi recommended you edit.

Maybe try that and then see what happens.
