  • Thank you, YOP.

Your hack solved this problem, which has plagued my poll pages since version 5.0.

Re-presenting the date input drop-downs after an initial failure to qualify is a major flaw with this plug-in, as it encourages the submitter to lie on a subsequent attempt. If they are not clever enough to lie on the first try, then hopefully a child has been blocked.

Suggestion: Add a second challenge after the DOB with an admin-configurable question AND answer, such as “What is the square root of sixteen?” or similar adult-targeting query.

Also, separate redirects to admin-configurable pages upon success AND failure would be highly desirable.

    Ok, I get it now.

I must say that the Sequential Steps toggle is a weak feature then. If the order is not enforceable programmatically, then it is not worth having at all, since it will result in user frustration …even if I add a caveat to the track’s description alerting them that they must perform the required step in the listed order for proper credit.

The first time a user is informed that they didn’t get credit because they didn’t perform the steps in proper order, they will probably never come back to my site. That’s how I would feel.

Thank for your sticktoitiveness on helping me with this!

I am still a fan of the plugin, and will keep on badgin’.

Thank you for the quick reply, on a Saturday no less.

I am still at a loss as to what the purpose of “Sequential Steps” is.

Your answer contains the following excerpts:

“…users must complete the steps in the order listed…”
“…Sequential Steps does not enforce the order for users…”

So, users must complete the steps in order, but the order is not enforced? Huh?

The verbiage adjacent to the Sequential Steps checkbox states, “Yes, steps must be completed in order.”

If I accept that the Required Steps need only be completed, regardless of their order, then I would suppose that that “Sequential Steps” might enforce once-at-a-time Submissions. Testing disproved that theory.

Testing with Sequential Steps disabled reveals to me that its only purpose is to display the steps on the public-facing webpage with leading numerals (via the HTML [ol] tag) versus without (via the HTML [ul] tag).

If that’s the case, then the verbiage adjacent to Sequential Steps should state, “Yes, display the steps in an ordered list (however, there is no enforcement of an actual required order that the user must complete these steps).”

Sorry for my heated tone, but I’ve spent far too much time chasing my tail on this matter.

    Thank you Paul.

I choose the Post Name option under Settings > General > Permalink Settings.

At first, all the links failed. Then I aligned Settings > General > General Settings > WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) to https://delvers.org/wp, and all links resolved with the formerly busted https://delvers.org/wp/achievements/ working as hoped.

Here’s a toast to you and your fine plugin. Looking forward to continuing my configuration on the morrow.
