Hi Guys,
Sorry to chase but could do with some help here, do we even need a profile form or is the registration enough?
Also one more questions sorry, could people that are not logged in and have no accounts message members?Ultimately is it possible to have the same information in the registration form accessible and editable in the profile form? Which i can then allow for the built in search and filter ability..
Or should i just have the registration form be basic username, password, email and then have the additional information completed on the profile form? Thanks for your message
Attached is a screen shot of the profile form i actually stripped the registration form down to try to identify a conflict. But before the search used to work fine then once i tried to add the same criteria into the profile to allow them to change it it has since broken
In an effort to try and answer beardedguy’s question, i initially had the criteria in the registration form for age, location, body type, hair colour etc etc lots of which can and will change. I therefor wanted to allow the member the ability to update their profile when they change their hair colour for example. At the initial stage where criteria was entered at the registration stage the search feature was fine, but when i tried to build the profile forms to include the same criteria i.e. hair colour using the same Meta Key name it began to fail. So now it is at the stage where if you update an aspect of the profile i.e. hair colour hit submit it does nothing and equally when i go to the members directory search page no filters show up despite being configured.unable to add attachment – tempted to delete the plugin and just start over with some testing before building the forms up..

Interesting… I did look at their search options in settings but haven’t seen this. I will play with it now thank you for being so helpful..!
Thanks for your help Diabolo but no i think this link is in reference to custom fields within a form using custom metadata.
My issue is that Ultimate Member does what i need in terms of profiles but i need a customisation search tool to search different aspects of a profile and the best i have seen is Search and Filter. However search and filter does not work with the standard WP user table it only works with MySQL and other eternal DBs. It seems as though UM dont support anything other than the default user table so i am a impasse.
I will ask on a few forums for recommendations i thinkI dont know what the limits are but presumably there will be over and above what MySQL can manage. I have been trying to use Search and Filter which doesn’t work against the user table and if we decided to move later to a different solution extracting the tables from MySQL would be (presumably) much easier from something like MySQL than it would default user table.
Thank you for your response.
i have followed your recommendation and my issue with that is now the registration and login. I am looking to create unique profiles as you suggest but both types of profiles would also require different registration forms and presumably different logins to redirect them to the right profile.
For instance in your example how would we know which role each user had if there is no option?many thanks in advance
