I took Bad Behavior out, to no effect. I haven’t added any plugins in several weeks, but the problem has only just occurred.

It turns out that (and here I quote my hosting provider) “constant queries to the database that are causing our server to have load problems”. So they’ve taken me down.

And, at the risk of sounding feeble, I don’t know what to do.

I can’t even get into my database from mypanel.

I think I might be completely screwed.

It appears as though the problem is to do with wp-spamfree and the Thesis theme not playing nicely together.

One of them will have to go…

Update: A couple I have times I have posted a comment while logged in, but then found I’ve been logged out and the comment has been put into moderation. A number of my readers have had comments disappear into the ether, but these same readers have been able to subsequently post comments successfully.

I’d be really grateful if anyone can come up with any clues. Unreliable commenting is hurting my blog.

I still don’t know what the problem was, but it has gone away. I’ve done the upgrade and all is well.

I’m grateful for the pointers – there was a missing ” in my formatting. Putting it back made all the difference.

I’m perplexed about what to do with the upgrade. I’ve since tried again and get the same result: the front page displays nothing, and the admin pages all redirect to a non-existant page in the root of my domain. I realise that I’m probably missing something ever so obvious, but I can’t imagine what it might be.

I’ve put the old files back for the time being, and it seems to be working (though without a sidebar for some reason). I would like to complete the upgrade, though.

I’ve replaced the double quotes in the title with single apostrophes. That has done the trick. Thanks for your help.

When looking at the single post, everything is normal. But on the main index page the comments link is simply missing.

It displays:

even though the source code says

I’ve also experienced this, but I’m afraid I have no clue about why, or how to resolve it.
