In reply to: List Posts Within Category by TitleHi,
Thanks for the reply but neither is what I am attempting to do.
When a visitor clicks on a category listed in a sidebar, the visitor is taken to a page that lists all of the posts in that category in an abbreviated form. What I would like to do is list these posts by title instead of date descending. Thanks.

In reply to: warning about TEMPLATIC themesI agree. This is just another one of those companies that thinks it can pull the wool over people by getting on forums and acting “earnest” about support. I have decided to stay away.

In reply to: warning about TEMPLATIC themesHi rbhavesh,
There were several questions to Ticket #8304, but I can see what has happened. The email from the helpdesk does not allow for email responses. This is not the industry standard. The message at the top requests that all responses go through the helpdesk, which is what I thought I was doing – however, apparently I should have gone back to your site and make another request through pre-sales help.
This process is very awkward since there is loss of continuity of the thread. Either a forum or a helpdesk since that allows for continuity, via email, of pre-sales questions would be very helpful. Also, I find open forums (such as the one we are on) the most reliable source of information. I have visited other forums that are closed to pre-sales visitors and this leaves me asking questions. I think this was alluded to by someone else on this thread.
Thanks for taking the time and lending and ear.

In reply to: warning about TEMPLATIC themesHi rbhavesh,
I can appreciate the challenges in developing a company and business model – especially during rough economic times. My experiences with your company during the initial stages of my evaluation of themes has been disappointing. Your staff does not answer pre-sales questions. There is no forum to elicit information, and the stability and reliability of your themes is questionable.
While many customers may find unstable themes “for all intents and purposes” good enough (maybe they are just parking a site), I cannot afford to have my site down for hours or four days depending upon whether or not your staff feels like answering a query or problem that I may have.
I like doing companies that have a business model that includes recurring revenue streams. This gives me hope that they can stabilize a support staff that can build rock solid themes and support for those themes. I am not convinced that you are there yet but I hope you take the appropriate steps to get there.

In reply to: warning about TEMPLATIC themesHi prosediva,
I am troubled by any product that has either no forum or a closed forum. I never know what is going on behind the scenes. I hope that Templatic implements an open forum so that these kinds of issues are quickly resolved.

In reply to: warning about TEMPLATIC themesHi,
I am in the process of reviewing several vendors for a new site that I am putting up. I was impressed by the functionality, design, and business mode of Templatic. I have more trust in vendors who have a recurring revenue stream model, since it means they can support a staff.
However, I am concerned that there is no official forum support. Forums are a big time saver especially if a problem (unrelated to the theme) has already been resolved by another member. I strongly encourage Thematic to put a new forum into place that will greatly assist users and further enhance their product and business.
Thanks for lending an ear to my recommendation,
Rich

In reply to: [PhoneFactor] [Plugin: PhoneFactor] Registration BrokenFirst I get back a message that the userid is already in use. When I try a different userid it gives me the same message. Then when I try to use it, nothing happens. It almost feels like it is just collecting userids … a very uncomfortable feeling.

In reply to: Moving from subdomain to primary domainHi,
Thanks for the assistance.
I am not looking to move the WordPress files. I am looking to move the blog. Here is an example of a thread which had some discussion about this. The discussion was much different than the instructions given in the codex. What’s more it is much different from dozens of other posts/articles that I read. So which is the definitive method?

In reply to: THE Best Magazine-Style WordPress Theme on the MarketDitto. I looked at about two dozen magazine themes recently and found Magazine Basic to be the easiest to install, most stable, with the best mix of features and ease of administration. I highly recommend it. In fact, it would be great if this magazine theme can be embraced by some developers/designers who would support and enhance it as future WP versions are released, and used as the fundamental basis for a Magazine Theme for the community. I would donate to such an effort.

In reply to: Alternative to Bluehost?Hi whooami,
Thanks for the links. I did have a chance to browse through these links and others on other forums before I posted my message. Most of the recommendations are good, but not what I am looking for.
First and foremost I need 24*7 telephone support. Also, based upon my experiences with Bluehost, I definitely need daily reports concerning any downtime that my website is experiencing. Hopefully, someone on this forum can help me out with my specific requirements based upon positive personal experiences. I do not want to move to Bluehost, unless I know that it will be a positive move, since I do not want to risk a really poor situation with an unknown hosting site.
Thanks for your help.
