In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] [Plugin: WP Photo Album Plus] Slideshow Link Per AlbumHi opajaap
Many thanks – I used your second option, putting the following at the end of my existing link (and including the appropriate photo ID for each photo):
&wppa-photo=..&wppa_occur=1As you said, I put a & at the start rather than a ? as I already had a ? in the link.
It gives me just what I wanted – absolutely wonderful ??
That’s great news, opajaap ?? Thank you for continuing to pursue a resolution to this, I understand that you are a perfectionist.
Hi opajaap
Nothing I have written in his thread should be taken as a criticism of you. Your support for your plug-in, and your speed of response to issues raised, is outstanding. I, for one, really appreciate your efforts to get responsiveness working in IE7/8 and I’m sure that with your skill you’ll get there in the end :-).
Thanks for the doing the test davidallen23 ?? My earlier reference to making the browser smaller was related to me doing a quick check to see if you were using “auto” width – I don’t actually use it like that.
I know that IE8, and indeed Windows XP, are now outdated, but that doesn’t mean that everyone has the ability (financial or otherwise) to upgrade to a Win 7 machine. According to this site, during June the percentage of IE8 users dropped to just under 14% (and that percentage will no doubt continue to decline each month). However, those for whom XP machines (limited to IE8) still meet their needs will continue using them for quite some time to come. Those same people, as you point out, don’t understand that IE isn’t the only way to Google!
Enough philosophising ?? As a temporary fix I have re-sized my pictures to have a height of 600px. This gets rid of the gap below those pictures whose height was previously less than 600px. The downside (isn’t there always one?) is that in IE8 the far right of the picture gets chopped off (the width of my re-sized pictures is 906px and I have now set I-B1 to 940 which is my theme width). Naturally, all is fine, and responsive, in Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and Safari (both iPad and desktop versions).
Hi opajaap
I have a fully responsive theme – Weaver II Pro. This is why I want your excellent plug-in to work with it in IE8:-)
Gillian
Hi opajaap
I-A1 = auto
I-B1 = 800
I-B2 = 600
IV-B1 = fitThanks ??
Gillian
Hi David
Thanks for posting that ??
Do you also have the width set to “auto” in settings Table 1, A1? It doesn’t appear so when I squish up my IE8 window while viewing your pictures.
My slideshows work fine with “auto” set in Firefox but not in IE8. In IE8 they work fine with, say, “800” px set in Table 1, A1, instead of “auto” but then I lose the responsive functionality that I want.
Would you mind testing yours with “auto” width set? It might rule out my host, theme and plug-ins as the source of the problem.
Hi opajaap
I have now upgraded to Ver 4.6.9 but I still have the same problem with IE8 that I described in my earlier posts on this thread.
If you click on a thumbnail on this page
https://www.polioaustralia.org.au/?page_id=10509
to go to the slideshow in IE8, you’ll see the problem I described where there is a gap between the picture and its title beneath, on every picture where the height of the picture is less than the 600px I have set for max height in the settings. If you view the same page in Firefox, the title and the picture are closely adjacent for every picture, no matter what the height.
Can the IE8 behaviour be fixed so that the pictures look the same as they do in Firefox?
Yours hopefully ??
Yes, I can confirm that the slideshow still does not display correctly in IE 8 which is a disappointment as anyone using Windows XP is stuck with IE8. It is now working fine in Firefox, however, so that’s good.
Hopefully opajaap can get the responsive slideshow also working in IE8 – I have been really looking forward to this capability ??
Hi Andrew
Check out this thread, it may describe your issue
https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/plugin-wp-photo-album-plus-wppa-thumbnails-in-posts-now-cut-off?replies=13After I upgraded to 4.6.6 last night in all my slideshows I got a huge white space between each picture and the description below it. I tracked it down to the fact that I had the height in the settings set to 800 but in some slideshows I was using pictures which are only 600 high. I reset the height to 600 and this fixed the problem except when a picture is less than 600 high because then a variable-sized gap reappears – this makes cropped/smaller pictures in the slideshow not look good. With previous versions (i.e. 4.6.5 and prior), having the height set to max 800 did not affect the spacing between the picture and the description no matter what height the picture was, they always stayed the same distance apart. I would like the previous behaviour back, please ??

In reply to: [Meteor Slides] [Plugin: Meteor Slides] Widget image sizeWell, before you do anything too drastic wait until Josh (the plug-in author) comes along later – he’ll probably have a better solution for you if you want to keep changing the size of your pictures.

In reply to: [Meteor Slides] [Plugin: Meteor Slides] Widget image sizeThey may be, but you still need to re-upload them because they need to be uploaded after the settings are changed.

In reply to: [Meteor Slides] [Plugin: Meteor Slides] Widget image sizeHaving now changed your width and height to the correct settings you just need to re-upload your pictures which match those settings and all will be well ??
Yes, I believe so (they are hosted on a commercial server).
