In reply to: [Shoreditch] Default font colorMaybe I haven’t explained very well? At least my comment about the auto adjustment of font color has confused the issue.
The default font color is #7a7c84.
The default background is white.
The contrast between these two is 4.16:1.
To improve contrast, I would like the default font colour to be darker – and to apply this site wide.
But if I use CSS to set the font color then it overrides the color adjustment feature and text that would have switched to white against a dark image remains dark.
I think you’ve already given me the answer, which is in the functions.PHP file.
Enhancement request sounds awesome. Fingers crossed.
Thanks again.

In reply to: [Shoreditch] Default font colorOK, thank you – I appreciate the quick response.
That’s a shame. I could do a child theme, but I don’t do this stuff every day, so couldn’t really justify the time it would take.
The reason for asking is that the contrast ratio of text on background is 4.16, which fails accessiblity tests – acceptable level is 4.5.
When you do an update to Shoreditch, would you consider making the grey darker?
Otherwise, I find the theme really great!

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] Google maps is not accurateWell that is odd. I am using twenty twelve, which I thought was a default theme. I will check out the plugins next.

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] Google maps is not accurateHi Brook,
Yes, that was the very first thing that I checked! When I put the postcode into Google maps directly, it points to the correct place.
Thanks for looking at my thread.

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] Google maps is not accurateAfter a bit more tinkering, it seems that the plugin/Google maps is paying more attention to the words in the address field then it does to the postcode. I’m not even sure it’s using the postcode at all.
So when I only list the name of the town in the address field (because the venue is a field about a mile outside the town), it uses the high level postcode for the whole of the town and ignores the much more specific 7-digit postcode that I’ve entered.
BTW, if I put the postcode in the address field and not in the postcode field, then I get the same result – it points to the centre of the town.
If I use the name of the road that the field is on, the maps pin then points to that part of the road in the town – but it’s a long road that goes through several postcodes, so that’s not right either (its pointing at a different postcode).
I can work around this, but it’s not ideal. The event has been pinned onto Google maps, and if I use the event name as part of the venue address then I do get close enough to the correct location. So now my event address is the event name, which looks a bit silly! Alternatively, if I put the postcode in both the address field and the postcode field, then it points to the right place, but now the postcode appears twice in the listing, which isn’t great either.
Frustrated! Is the plugin trying to be too clever for its own good?
I can live with this, but would love it if anyone has a solution. Thanks.

In reply to: [Document Gallery] Errors after updating to 2.0I had similar error messages on any page where DG was enabled. I deactivated all the plug-ins, reactivated them, and the problem has gone… If you haven’t tried this, then you should.

Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Running a development copy of wordpressThe way I work I’m going to end up with a database 15 times the size I need, and I’d like to fix that. My most recent post has 30 revisions. That’s going to get out of hand pretty quickly, and I’d rather implement a fix now, than a few years down the line when I’ve got a lot more content to protect.
The two databases don’t need to be the same – so I won’t need to sync databases, but I would like a record of all my WP settings and code.
Which of the local installation techniques would you recommend for windows?

In reply to: Running a development copy of wordpressThanks, that’s really helpful.
And if I want to change anything within the codex itself?
I saw that the revision feature creates a new entry in the database everytime it autosaves or previews a post, and this is going to bump the size of my database way up, because I like writing directly into the post edit, and hence I wanted to turn this off in wp-config. But I’m worried in case I screw it up – hence I wanted to test on a non live site.
This may well be a really stupid question, but is there a way to run a mirror copy of the installation on a PC?
