In reply to: Poor image uploading?Hi Shirazdrum,
Thanks for the help, much appreciated …
The page I was first working with, that you’ve seen, after a bunch of more random chess moves by the images, finally dropped them all in a line and equally spaced so I saved them, and moved on to creating the next index page, the first 2 of a total of 6 that will be made.
Before I upload the images I make sure the html page is empty of code, and I’ve tried the browser and the flash uploader but both give the same result. It makes me suspicious that the problem is more to do with the code that makes up the page behind the scenes.
The one you’ve seen already is at;
https://www.connection-junction.com/lee-enfield-no1-mk3
The second page I really struggled with but failed to get them all lined up evenly, is at;
https://www.connection-junction.com/lee-enfield-no4-mk1.When they’re operating the way I want them to, there would be perhaps a dozen of these images on each page,(each image is a link to a youtube video) I won’t necessarily need them to be in sequence, but they should at least look orderly.
The html for the second page is;
[caption id="attachment_2410" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="No4 Mk1 speed shoot"]<img class=”size-thumbnail wp-image-2410″ title=”enfield rifle no4 speed shoot” src=”https://www.connection-junction.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/enfield-rifle-no4-speed-shoot-150×150.jpg” alt=”” width=”150″ height=”150″ />[/caption]<div class=”mceTemp” style=”text-align: right;”><dl id=”attachment_2408″ class=”wp-caption alignleft” style=”width: 160px;”> <dt class=”wp-caption-dt”><img class=”size-thumbnail wp-image-2408″ title=”lb 7.62″ src=”https://www.connection-junction.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/lb-7.62-150×150.jpg” alt=”” width=”150″ height=”150″ /></dt> <dd class=”wp-caption-dd”>No4 Mk1 7.62mm</dd> </dl></div>
<div class=”mceTemp” style=”text-align: right;”><dl id=”attachment_2416″ class=”wp-caption alignright” style=”width: 160px;”> <dt class=”wp-caption-dt”><img class=”size-thumbnail wp-image-2416″ title=”no4 compared” src=”https://www.connection-junction.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/no4-compared1-150×150.jpg” alt=”” width=”150″ height=”150″ /></dt> <dd class=”wp-caption-dd”>No4’s compared – A</dd> </dl></div>
<div class=”mceTemp” style=”text-align: left;”><dl id=”attachment_2418″ class=”wp-caption alignright” style=”width: 160px;”> <dt class=”wp-caption-dt”><img class=”size-thumbnail wp-image-2418″ title=”no4 compared B” src=”https://www.connection-junction.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/no4-compared-B1-150×150.jpg” alt=”” width=”150″ height=”150″ /></dt> <dd class=”wp-caption-dd”>No4’s compared – B</dd> </dl></div>

In reply to: Poor image uploading?No dice, I’m afraid. The code went in OK but there was no change in how the pics won’t move right or stay put where I want them, its like playing a mad chess game. Each time I use the left/centre/right control the pics travel in diagonals and all sorts of weird moves. If I use the space key in between the images it also creates random odd moves, and also shifts the caption away from the image.
hmm…I’m not sure what you mean by still confused, perhaps you asked before, but here’s my 2 cents for what its worth. Most themes I’ve used that allow the main image to be changed, and not all of them do, if they change the front page header image, will also be the same right imge across the site. Its because the pages are just repeats of the layout of the home page, and its a lazy way to build.
Some themes, like 2010, which I’m using and like better than most, have an allowance to add a header image to each page but this is at the top of the text and is in addition to the top of page header image.I’m still surprised that wp designers don’t understand that most of us use wp as a web site builder, not a blog, the first one to make a nice theme without all the blogy bits like dates, fixed images, and all the bottom of page categories will make a fortune.

In reply to: How to block page navigation listing?Thats what I’ve already done, and is how I was able to divide the data into files or images, by creating a separate menu.
Trouble is that if the page is set for the public to see, as opposed to private, then all the pages names appears in the top of home page navigation, its a cluttered mess and I’d like to reduce 50% of them.
I had hoped that by creating a custom menu that it would automatically remove those page names on the nav area, but no such luck.Forum: Fixing WordPress

In reply to: Removal of excess stuff.Hi Greiv, I’m pretty much a newby but I think I just learned how to do what you’re after; go to theme/widgets, open that, look for the search word with a big sort of star next to it. Drag it to the upper right box called sidebar one and let it go.
if you now go to the front page of th site you’ll see the wp support stuff has disappeared and now there’s just a search box. For me thats a big/huge improvement.

In reply to: adding themeser, help again..
I used the ftp to load the files over into themes, trouble is that over at the website they don’t show up , at all, are they supposed to be in a file together or something like that, instead of a string of 15 files.?The odd thing is that wp works as a string of files, but this..?
thanks Roger
