Any ideas. All I want to do is create web pages, not blogs, if I can.

Hi: I went to the Discussion area and, again there was nothing to turn off the feature to add a comment. I am trying to set my pages up as regular web pages and not as blogs, and realize that wp was established mostly for blogs. Any help?

Hi. I loked in Dashboard,Settings, Reading and did not see an option to either allow or disallow people to comment to new posts.

Thanks for the links. One question..I do not have mysql installed on my own computer, as I am told that it will not work that well on windows os. Can this be done where I export the access file to a csv file and then upload it into the host-side mysql databsse through PHPMyAdmin?

My hosting company has strongly suggested setting it up on their Linux server, so the overall answer appears to be: Yes, you can, but don’t. So it looks like Linux will be it.

I want to create a test database in msql (without downloading anything to my own compuiter, which my hosting company says is not necessary).

I want to create two tables.

Table one has two fields (Client Name] and [Client Code}
Table 2 has two fields; [number of sales] and [avg. price]
My one and only record, where the client name is Harry and his client code is 0000) has made 3 sales, where the avg. price is $10,000.

I want to have a page that both displays and updates the amount of sales for harry.

Is there a plug-in that will help me do this without having to know how to write code within WP?

Actually, I am not concerned about having to re-create standard .htm pages (or with whatever format is best-suited today). Those are primarily pictures, text and flash files and need to be updated anyway.

However, I am terribly concerned about what do do about re-creating a system within WP that replaces the way I use my Access database and .asp pages (which are created in Frontpage) that are used to update and display fields from the many tables and queries within my Access database. I understand that queries are not created within mysql itself but through .php pages (is this right?) that contain the formulas. I am looking for some sort of software or wizard program that will be able to do this for me easily by creating the necessary pages (if there is such a thing) similar to the way the Frontpage Database Wizard does.

As a starting point, my introduction page just has one picture and one centered line of text. (see https://www.WeRenovate.net) I was wondering how to change the font as well as be able to move the text manually, or is there a way to use tables on a page and place things within cells?

I’m not sure what you mean. I have started an introduction page which only contains a line of text and a picture. I can’t tell what the font of the text is, and I can seel that there is a tool for bolding the text, but nothing that lets you select and change the font (or are fonts selected differently?
