In reply to: [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Multisite, user galleries get mixedI tried setting the path from Gallery –> Options –> General Options tab –> Gallery Path to
/gallery/%BLOG_ID%/
but that makes it not work at all (cannot see image thumbnails in the back end, after adding but the placeholders shown are still for BOTH sites!).Any ideas?

In reply to: [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] plug wont upgrade on wpmu sub domainFound solution from another thread:
https://mu.www.ads-software.com/forums/topic/15437Basically log in as SuperAdmin in the Subsite showing issue, go to Plugins and Deactivate, then Network Activate again the NGG plugin.
I guess I deleted the plugins, my customizations and database tables unnecessarily trying to fix the harder way…
Good to have it working again!

In reply to: [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] plug wont upgrade on wpmu sub domainI took a look at the database using phpMyAdmin and I see the NGG entries for the supersite but none for subsites.
I see…
r1_ngg_album
r1_ngg_gallery
r1_ngg_picturesBut there are NO corresponding ones for the subsites, such as…
r1_5_ngg_album
r1_5_ngg_gallery
r1_5_ngg_picturesI clicked on each of the 3 entries for the supersite, selected all fields, and did a “Drop” thinking maybe I can force more of a reset. But the entries and fields are still there. Did not seem to improve things (and hope I did not screw anything, seems to still be working, not sure what “Drop” actually did…). I am concerned I will end up screwing things more than fix them…
I also noticed that one of my test subsites has the three ngg entries in the database. But logging into that subsite still shows the same upgrade loop behavior.
Any words of wisdom?

In reply to: [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] plug wont upgrade on wpmu sub domainI can’t seem to get rid of the issue.
I am using latest version of NextGEN Gallery (v.1.5.5) with latest version of WP (3.0.1) with MU activated.
– I have admin menus for plugins enabled.
– I deactivated plugin and network activated again.
– I have updated the network (superadmin –> update)
– I reset plugin (from plugin options).
– I uninstalled plugin (from plugin options – so this should delete the entries from the database, right?).
– Re-installed fresh copy of plugin. So far no luck getting rid of the upgrade loop for subsites. Plugin works fine on the supersite.
Not really comfortable editing database as I did not completely understand/follow instructions from post above.
Any other ideas?

In reply to: [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Upgrade loopAlex, I am having this same issue.
I am using latest version of NextGEN Gallery (v.1.5.5) with latest version of WP (3.0.1) with MU activated.
I click Network Activate for the plugin and for the master site all seems well. But all subsites can’t get out of the “upgrade loop”.
This is a new setup/installation and I do not have any content I need to keep, at least in terms of images/galleries.
I also tried moving /wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/ to /wp-content/mu-plugins/nextgen-gallery/ but then I don’t even see the plugin appear at all in the WP Admin Panel.
Is there any trick to correctly install NextGEN Gallery for WP3 MU?
Please advise…

In reply to: Export multiste 'subsite' to be its own site/blog?I certainly had my share of learning the unpleasant way about backups. However, it is easy to slip on the vigilence after some time without incident.
Indeed, good reminders; thanks!

In reply to: WordPress MU Domain Mapping plugin – no SUNRISE?Ahaa…
After much time and frustration, turns out the SUNRISE related code I put in my config file was copied from a website and pasted in the file using Dreamweaver.
I noticed the litle quotes looked a bit different and the color coding from Dreamweaver showed waht is inside differently. Once I changed the quotes to the ‘other’ type, it worked…
Whew! One small victory down, a few more to go. I think tonight is going to be a good, good night (to echo the song I am just listening to…)

In reply to: WP 3.0 multisite ConstructorAndrea, are you saying subsite admins should not be able to edit the site’s theme? How else would they make needed changes. For example, my theme allows in it’s options to place certain images in a slideshow on hte home page. Those images are not generic, really are part of the website’s content, which should be controlled by the subsite Admin.
Or does it mean that the theme developer did not implement it correctly by including content related operations in the Theme Options section?
I got the workaround I needed, just trying to clarify if I am thiking about this the right way…

In reply to: WP 3.0 multisite ConstructorBRILLIANT! Was searching all over about this issue with another theme – not displaying the theme specific options for the subsite users.
Replaced edit_themes with switch_themes in a corresponding PHP file did it!
Anyone care to elaborate a bit what that actually does? Any potential drawbacks? Any other consequnces I may not be aware of right now?
Thanks!!

In reply to: Adding simple border to images in slideshow (nextgen-gallery)Funny, I just posted on trying to do the same thing. See https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/383426?replies=1
I just posted there what I ended up doing and works pretty well, see it working at
https://mysite.komotion.com/about/Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Is .slideshow-widget defined anywhere? What I ended up doing is adding the following to the CSS used by the gallery. This is nggallery.css for the deafult theme. I put my customizations in a separate file – nggallery-komotion.css
About line 302…
.slideshow-widget { border:1px solid #DDDDDD; padding:4px; background-color:#FEFEFE }
Side note: in order to use your own custom CSS file and appear in the plugin’s back-end options, change the style name in the first line of the CSS file.
