In reply to: Delete or edit my question? With all due respect Mr. Stern, you aren’t in a position to decide what is sensitive to my business and what is not. But thanks for your answer just the same.

In reply to: Logging in to old Dashboard redirects me to new DashboardSomehow, some way, I inadvertently changed the ‘home’ and ‘siteurl’ options in the wp_options table from ‘cms.example.com’ to ‘cmsvm.example.com’ in the WordPress database on my old server. This article showed me how to fix them.
Thanks @wurpe!

Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Moving WP from a.com to b.comI had a similar problem and discovered that even if you change the home and site URLs as described by @wurpe, the old URL may still exist within serialized records inside your WordPress database. There are a number of articles that describe how to fix this problem. The approach I took was to run a PHP script described here: https://interconnectit.com/products/search-and-replace-for-wordpress-databases/. Once I ran this script, I could log into my dashboard without any problems.
WARNING: As the people who created this script will tell you, running this script can be extremely dangerous to your database so you run it at your own risk. They advise you to back up your database before you run it. They also advise you to delete it from your server after you’ve run it because it poses a very significant security risk as well.
The only other thing I will add is that after I ran this, I’m no longer able to log into the dashboard on my old site even though I only changed the WP database on my new server. I’m not sure why that is and I’ve posted a question a little while ago asking for help with that issue.
