In reply to: WYSIWYG editor losing HTML on 2.1I’ll join the list as having this same problem across 4 blogs. Browser doesn’t seem to matter.
Having the easy flip-flop between wysiwyg and code is fantabulous, but not having the previous versions code functionality is a bit of a drawback. I’m sure people far smarter than I are working on this, and I look forward to their solution.

In reply to: Image Upload ErrorI’m no php coder, so I can’t even guess at how this would need to be done, but I know there is forum software out there that runs on php and MySQL that allows for picture/file uploads without having to have folders with a CHMOD setting of 777. As I understand it, the file uploads are part of the DB, not just files in a folder somewhere.
Looking to the future, I wonder if that is a functionality that could be added to WordPress. Because I’m thinking that most everyone who has any pictures in the WP blogs has some folders CHMODed to 777, which as I understand it is not the most secure setup one can have.

In reply to: Image Upload ErrorHandy – Thanks for all your replies on this. I was able to find several similar threads, but oddly enough, each user ended up changing CHMOD settings to 777 to fix the issue.
Seems that we don’t want to do that, right?

In reply to: Image Upload ERRORpipwiz – I’m not sure that’s going to be your best answer. As I understand it, 777 leaves you and your server vulnerable.

In reply to: Image Upload ErrorNope – when I change it back to 755, I get the original error.

In reply to: Image Upload ErrorOk, 777 makes it work. This is a blog I’m setting up for someone far less technically proficient than I, so I don’t think I want to leave it at 777 for him (right?).
Is there a setting I can use to make this secure yet allow the image uploads?

In reply to: Image Upload ErrorCHMOD for the wp-content file is currently set at 755 (if that’s what you’re asking).
BTW, wow that was a fast reply.

In reply to: Can’t select databasekinan – too bad yours was the last post in this thread. ?? In my current version of cPanel, the option is “Add user to DB”. I had forgotten that step. One click, and all was well again.

In reply to: Can’t get install script to runMy bad – I have a fancy version of WinZip that is so fancy it disregards any file hierarchy and places all extracted files into the same folder. Corrected the problem and all appears to be fine.
Feel free to delete this thread if you’d like.
