In reply to: [Yoast SEO] indexing problemI had replied before, not sure why it didn’t show up. trying again. Strangely, before it had 191 not indexed pages, but only about 38 indexed After deleting a lot of galleries, now it has over a hundred more non-indexed, and a new status, not crawled. Here are some examples. I sonder why some are listed twice such as caprimulgiformes both with and without / following.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] indexing problemAfter opening a new browser and going to google search console, I still see saw-whet in the list of non-indexed. I wanted to paste screen shot of page showing in the list but says blocked. Are attachments also, because I could show thus .

In reply to: Codeguard backup problemsIt’s seeming like Codeguard is phony as they have no way of being contacted about anything, such as why each time I pay more to get to the next level,, I exceed it without adding anything.
So I was looking at the backups in the article and it said do an SQL backup from CPanel. there were 2 files there, but together they didn’t even total 1 megabyte. It didn’t say to download the home directory backup but I did anyway and it was a very large multigig file. So the directions on the site seem pretty incomplete and maybe I can get more advice here before I lose my whole site due to incomplete or incorrect procedures.

In reply to: my dead siteMy case was escalated and a Hostgator administer emailed me that since files were deleted, there is no problem in adding more files again, but I am skeptical and will have to find out how easily that could happen again. Many on elementor forum said to get off there, also always being threatened with suspension or loss of site.

In reply to: my dead siteWell I really love the new site I am building, the organization mostly.
I was on the phone between replies with Hostgator tech. I asked about the amount available and he said the plan shows unlimited. I asked how much am I using and I heard part of a sentence cut off. I didn’t hear a dial tone so I didn’t hang up. After about 20′ music replaced silence and then he came back on. Asked again, hold on. Answer is about 6G. Said an administrator will get back to me with more info or suggestions. No clear answer what I can see that I’m exceeding.

In reply to: my dead siteI have 2 different sites. theearlybirder.com is outdated. That says 209,206 images, but they are not on the site. That is just the number of images I had myself, available, slides or digital. That is a non-WP site and my home copy from which it is derived is about 22Gigabytes.
I was told that was old code, didn’t work well with mobile, or search engines, so I should have a wordpress site. I started that last November, and have built about 230 pages, most galleries, at https://theearlybirder.org . My plan was to keep links to the old site, while building and replace with new galleries and links, one by one, until the site would be completely replaced and deleted. So it was a huge shock and surprise to be well under limits advertised as well as depicted in C-panel, and be told I have 2 million inodes when 58K show and then backtrack and say it is too much php, and end my ability to add another image. I thought maybe someone here would know what they are talking about. I don’t have any store online even, no comments section, no email.
I do have elementor pro, but am wary because in trying to solve a problem with a gallery that wouldn’t update I was given the following advice:
“In this case, please try adding the following directives to your .htaccess file to increase the dynamic timeout and see if it helps:
<IfModule mod_dtimeout.c> <Files ~ “.php”> SetEnvIf Request_URI “admin-ajax.php” DynamicTimeout=150 </Files> </IfModule>
As instructed in this guide https://elementor.com/help/publish-update-button-not-work/
You should contact your hosting company to help you with this by adding the above line to your .htaccess file.”
So I got remote help showing where to put it. Later in the day I was told my site was down. I found that all my pages were gone, until another host tech told me to put #in front of the code to disable it, but now no pages are editable in Elementor, there seems to be 2 versions, http and https of everything.
I’m quite waryt and fearful of what further advice may do.
So I asked the smush question in the forum.I don’t know why this site makes it so hard to post a question. I left this and went around and around 10 menus, trying to find how to post anew and all I ever got was articles, and nowhere to post. I wanted to know about the Smush plugin to optimize images. I looked at what it says about stripping metadata, and I need to know if it strips the descriptions, as I use in many cases to identify the image. This is not part of the file name, but description and if it stripped that then hundreds of images with the species name would have none.
As this was 2 months ago, I can’t remember what page had this problem or exactly what it was. I know much more now and have made over a hundred galleries with different sizes and complexities. Captions can be displayed below the image and I do it, as further down in this gallery, when desired. Now I have been wanting to put a break in the caption so the Latin name with always be below the common, but have been unable to and so delete the common from the description before uploading.

In reply to: safely saving templateNo one on that forum was responding, so I went to Elementor ‘Pro’ support. I may get a reply in 2-5 days, based on previous help requests.

In reply to: updating wp, backup siteThanks. I see that it shows 3010.61 / 20000 MB
So I am pretty safe for some time.
I thought I would do the computer backup again, as suggested, but don’t see in WP or Hostgator where I did it before…….. Found video on how to and am doing.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: updating wp, backup siteAfter the debacle and paying for the partial restoration, I did also pay for a daily backup service, so I can assume, I don’t have to worry about updating? One thing, I wonder about is the present size of my site, compared to when I bought the one year service. I wonder if it will be bigger than the size originally paid for and if I would get a surprise if it was. I am sure as I add more and more photo galleries that it will eventually. How do I know the size?

In reply to: updating wp, backup siteI thought that is what I did originally. I was first trying to figure how to restore using it, but But Hostgator told me that I wouldn’t be able to do anything with the backup, on my computer, and so I paid for their latest one, which, while restoring the ruined parts, wiped out stuff created since their backup.

In reply to: pasting HTML to pageThis is just one of the pages I am trying to duplicate. I don’t relish retyping almost 10,000 records with their fields. https://theearlybirder.com/orders/lepidoptera.html
