WordPress.com Stats are feature full, easy on the eyes, and give exactly the amount of information you need when doing a quick analytics check. I’d love it if the www.ads-software.com people integrated this into WordPress itself – there’s no reason why not to!

Same problem – I did a little digging and found the problem. There’s some command called fsockopen that is usually disabled on free hosts: I’m using freehostia and they apparently disabled it. This means that wordpress doesn’t have access to html freely and can’t look up the plugin directory, theme directory, or automatic update directory. It stinks… Anybody know a free host with reasonable storage and bandwidth that has fsockopen enabled?

WordPress is install under a directory – it isn’t in the root. When it accesses the ftp, it doesn’t know where to find the plugin/theme/core folders.

How do I fix this problem?

I’m pretty sure Xtreemhost does. I think the problem is that the files are in a directory that wordpress can’t find – how do I change that?

I can access my website from FileZilla via FTP, just not when I’m in my admin panel for wordpress.

Fixed it! It was a problem with a plugin I was using.

Just checked to see if the problem reoccurs on other computers: it does. That means it isn’t something wrong with just my computer…not good.

Just upgraded it even though it said I had 2.8.4. No difference, the problems still there. Thanks so much for helping me, BTW!

Just to make things clear: I can upload to wordpress just fine via the “Add Media” section on the sidebar: it’s just when I click on any of the four buttons to add media on the “New post” or “New page”, nothing happens at all.

No good. Just updated flash and it doesn’t do a thing – what next?

Thanks for the prompt reply – will try those. Never thought to update flash. The weird thing is that I get the same results with Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera, AND Chrome…?
