HI, I re-opened the thread as I am still not in a resolved situation. I can resolve the issue if I change the user to be a wordpress admin, have that user login, wordpress forces that user to change their password, then set the user back to be a subscriber and then they can login using the new password without issue. It has something to do with the initial login I think, but I can’t quite figure out what the issue is.
A little more detail on this. It isn’t strictly related to imported vs manually created users. I was able to get an imported user to behave correctly after changing the roles on/off at different levels and then this user eventually started working. However, another imported user, in all ways identical to this other user, generates the too many redirects error. Same role, same configuration – just two users – one can login successfully, another cannot. Strange problem…

Yes, that’s what I tried, but no email arrives. I seem to get all the other emails so far, but not that one. Any other ideas to try? I have tried multiple users so it doesn’t appear to be an email delivery issue to a given account. Nothing in spam or junk…
