I did deactivate plugins and it made no difference.
Then I received the WordPress update to 3.7 so I updated.
I can now build a new page that lets me edit or delete images on the page with the buttons when I click on the image, I can also add web links to the text on these new pages. However, when I go to edit pages built before the update the images are replaced with a big blank box.
