Ajay, thanks very much. I was looking for something a little more automated perhaps, but I’ll play around with IImage Browser and your hack and see how that goes. Please let me know when you release your Open Browser Window Plugin for images. Thanks again.

Yes, Yas, “it’s a cracker” is a compliment. It would be great if you do keep developing your theme.

I’m surprised that no one has responded to your post yet, your theme looks like it is a cracker. I haven’t had a chance to install it yet myself but I’m looking forward to opening up the admin area. Thanks very much for this.

You can change the time stamp for the post in admin. If you change it to an earlier or later time it will move the post before or after other posts, depending on their time stamps. If you just want to keep a post at the top, try using the Adhesive plugin.

I’m designing a site at the moment for a Primary School and the kids will love this. Great work!

So how did you do that then? I like it a lot.

Chris Davis proposed using WordPress as a CMS and blogged about the method he would use here:
    https://www.chrisjdavis.org/index.php/2004/07/15/faking-it-wordpress-as-cms/
It seems similar to what you’ve suggested here.
This was great because it meant that I could have a blog, a colophon page, a how to page etc. all controlled through Categories in the Admin area. It meant that every page was dynamic. Just what I wanted for my site.
The only trouble was the display of archives.
When the archives page comes up, not only will it display the entries on the blog pages, it also displays the entries on the colophon, how to pages etc. as well. Obviously, that’s not much use.
Do you have any suggestion as to how I could set things up so that only the blog entries appear on the archives page.
Additionally, can you suggest how you might then sort them into year, month and day? Hope you can help.

Like Sushubh said, the double slash might be your problem. However, I posted a couple of days ago with a problem setting the chmod to 766, as it says on the options instructions. I found that if I set it to 777 it worked fine. Hope this helps.

Thanks Podz, you have summed up exactly what’s happening, level 1 users being able to do 2 different things, depending what screen they are on. I’ll pass this on to Laughing Lizard who has been able to help me out this far.
At this stage, the users are just ones I’ve invented and, yes, I would always be careful about who I assigned permissions to.
    Cheers

Right on the nose, thanks. Will a non-administrator/user have the same problem do you think? Anyway, your help is much appreciated – I’ll watch developments with interest. Best wishes.

Thanks for getting back to me. That little tweak let me in to the admin. I knew I was going on a magic carpet ride somewhere but I didn’t have the time or the brains to work it out. Unfortunately, now I’m in, I keep getting the same Runtime error which prevents me from entering data into a blank field in any of the menu items (Categories, Links, Users etc.) Here it is:
    A Runtime error has occurred.
    Do you wish to Debug?
    Line: 50
Error: ‘nulll’ is null or not an object
You’ve got me this far, do you think you can keep me going? I don’t know if you’ll return to this post, so I might post it as a new topic later.

I’ve just found Laughing Lizard’s sql dump file – absolutely essential! Thanks guys, I’m up and running and it only took 2 days. Seriously ‘though, I’m really looking forward to trying this out. Thanks again.

Thanks for your reply, here is the post I made earlier – can you help?
I have manually created config.php and all the entries are correct but I get this error message
[Table ‘wordpress.wp_options’ doesn’t exist] when I run install.php in the browser.
I’m trying to set it up on my machine at home – I’m running Apache with phpmyadmin installed and editing on Dreamweaver.
