In reply to: Plugin Auto Update ErrorCheck your upgrade directory. Sometimes WordPress and plug-ins leave behind their upgrade files in the “upgrade” directory. I have found if there is something already in the upgrade directory “auto” update function will not work for WordPress or plug-ins.
Use a good FTP program and delete any files etc in the upgrade directory. Then try your auto upgrade again.

In reply to: wp ecommerce cant upload large files in desperate need!Hi Craig & Firebug:
This is a common problem and is usually associated to server settings. Most Host companies restrict upload via browsers to not more than 2 meg. Usually when you try and upload something larger vai your WordPress dashboard …Page>Insert Media, WordPress will tell you the file is too big.
You can get around this by FTPing the files directly to your WordPress>wp-content>upload directory. The in your newly created PAGE, click on the add/insert Media icon and use “from URL”. The url is that actual url address to the file you uploaded to your WordPress>wp-content>upload directory. It will be something like this:
https://www.mysite/wp-content/upload/mypic.jpg
Hope that helps and good luck! ??

In reply to: Automatic upgrade from 2.8.3 to 2.8.4 failed – no errors givenPS I would try a repair on the data base…as I’ve found that a repair works more than optimizing even though it appears there is nothing wrong with the data base.

In reply to: Automatic upgrade from 2.8.3 to 2.8.4 failed – no errors givenAbout all I can think of at this point is a file permission issue, but I’m assuming you’ve already checked that and you mentioned other upgrades have worked.
I’m guessing all that’s left is a manual upgrade

In reply to: Automatic upgrade from 2.8.3 to 2.8.4 failed – no errors givenHere are some of the things I have found that prevent automatic upgrades:
1.Make sure you check your upgrade file directory in your WP installation. Sometimes a previous upgrade will still be in the upgrade directory. (left behind for some reason) If it is, it will stop new upgrades. You need to delete all the files of previous upgrades from your UPGRADE directory. The upgrade dir is a sub folder in your /wp-content/ folder.
2.Sometimes I find if I run a repair or optimize on my data base, it solves the automatic upgrade issue. You can do this through your HOST Cpanel using PhPmyAdmin. For help with PhPmyAdmin, do a Google search.
3. If the 1st two don’t solve your problem, then start deactivating plug-ins. There is a good possibility that one of them is interferring with the upgrade.
Good luck

In reply to: email Notifications 2.81. thought to 2.84In order to get Admin email notifications, I had to install the plug-in Configure SMTP. I`m at least getting email messages now, but still believe changes from 2.7.1 when the resident ()mail function worked perfectly for all mail generated by WP.
