Many thanks for your response. Sorry I’d not found the previous forum thread.

When I add the <div></div> it just adds this text at the start and end of the list and the first title still has the space underneath.

I don’t know how to change the Execution Priority of wpautop by adding the following line to function.php:
add_filter( ‘the_content’, ‘wpautop’,20 );

Please could you tell me how I do this?
