In reply to: [Virtue] Problem with Kadence Blocks Advanced Gallery and VirtueThanks Karla, all is good now.
Maybe there should be a warning against having both settings ON at the same time.
Have a good Christmas.
All the best…

In reply to: [Gutenberg] Parent page missing in page attributesIt’s really bad that we’re still having to use workarounds for this bug after over a year. How long does it take to get this fixed!
This is broken for me as well.

Any news on when it might be fixed?

In reply to: WordPress Keeps Changing Long S to Question MarkWell, I think I’ve solved this. Rather than edit a normal block in HTML mode, I’ve added a Custom HTML block and now so long as I write the ‘long s’ as a character entity then it works.
I still don’t understand why typing the ? character doesn’t work whichever way I try.

In reply to: [Virtue] Can’t Add Images to Home SliderHi Ben
Well the problem is cured, temporarily at least. Bluehost have told my client that they’ve whitelisted her website. They haven’t. What they’ve actually done is to revert PHP on her server to v5.6.40 (which I guess has lower security requirements). I’m now seeing a PHP warning on the WP dashboard.
What they should have done, as far as I can see, is what’s shown here:
https://www.tweaking4all.com/web-development/wordpress/mod_security-fix/
and whitelisted the Appearance > Theme Options page(s)I’ve told my client what’s been done, and told her that it will work for now and until some update to the WP core, plugin or theme requires PHP v7.x.x.
Hopefully you won’t see this problem with any other of your installs, but if you do, this might point you in the right direction.
Best…
Roy

In reply to: [Virtue] Can’t Add Images to Home SliderI don’t know if it’s fixed yet – Bluehost have escalated the help-desk issue I raised with them, but it seems it’s an issue with Apache mod_security. I found this which prompted them to check.
“Well, that’s because of Apache’s web application firewall, mod_security.
It seems like the issue was caused by the fact that some of your site’s configuration have triggered a mod_security rule.
It blocks known exploits and provides protection from a range of attacks against web applications. Sometimes, ModSecurity rule can be invoked despite the validity of the request.
In such a case, you’ll need to get it whitelisted.”
I’m waiting for them to make whatever changes they need to do.

In reply to: [Virtue] Can’t Add Images to Home SliderI know it’s not actually a problem with the theme as I’m using it on four other sites – five including my testing server. The site is on a bluehost.com server. They claim to have specialist WP support, so I’ll try to contact them directly via my client’s account and see if they can help.
I’ll keep this thread open and report back if I can find a solution.

In reply to: [Virtue] Can’t Add Images to Home SliderI get this error message from the Console tab in Firefox:
Source map error: request failed with status 404
Resource URL: https://joyflanagandesign.co.uk/wp-content/themes/virtue/themeoptions/assets/js/vendor/qtip/jquery.qtip.min.js?ver=2.2.0
Source Map URL: jquery.qtip.min.js.mapI’ve FTPd to that folder and the file jquery.qtip.min.js is there but it’s version ‘qTip2 v2.2.1’ (dated 18/09/2019). Could this version difference be causing the problem?
Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Virtue] Can’t Add Images to Home SliderIt’s PHP Version 7.2.23
I’m reluctant to change the theme on my client’s live site.
I’ve tried changing some other Theme Options and I get the same error message. Could it be something to do with permissions on wherever theme options are saved to? Is it to a particular file?

In reply to: [Virtue] Can’t Add Images to Home SliderThere’s no caching plugin. These are the only active plugins:
Google XML Sitemaps
Kadence Blocks
Kadence Toolkit
UpdraftPlus Backup
Wordfence SecurityI tried disabling them all except for Kadence Toolkit. It still wouldn’t save the changes I made to the Home Scroller, but I got a slightly different error message. Apart from saying “There was a problem with your action. Please try again or reload the page.” it also had a tick box saying “Prevent this page from creating additional dialogues.”
I haven’t ticked the box as I have no idea what repercussions this might have.

In reply to: [Virtue] Can’t Add Images to Home SliderHi Hannah
I’ve added a phpinfo.php file to the root folder of the website and it says the memory_limit is 256MB. Would this be normal? It will be a problem getting my client to talk technical to her hosting company and she seems reluctant to let me contact them directly on her behalf.

In reply to: [Virtue] Kadence Blocks Row Layout and Home Page Post SnippetsI thought this might be the case. Not a problem for me, but I have a couple of contributors who will need reminding to remember to do this.
Thanks
