In reply to: Multisite – When is Upgrade Network needed?Found it: https://developer.www.ads-software.com/advanced-administration/multisite/admin/
It refers to updating all the sites in the multisite network and “After a WordPress upgrade, you are reminded to visit the?Upgrade Networks?with a message such as, “Thank you for Updating! Please visit the Upgrade Network page to upgrade all of your sites.”.
I assume I only need to do it if I’m prompted by WordPress to do so.

In reply to: Multisite – When is Upgrade Network needed?I found this via a search of the Documentation: https://www.ads-software.com/documentation/article/roles-and-capabilities/#upgrade_network
It’s the only hit I got when searching and says nothing about what Upgrade Network refers to ….

In reply to: Multisite – When is Upgrade Network needed? Thanks for the info. But I’m still left wondering what Upgrade Network does?? If it’s done automatically during a WordPress update then why would it be a separate item/option on the update list?
I’ll try digging into the documentation to see if I get some info there.

In reply to: [Create Block Theme] Create Block Theme v 2.0.2 breaking siteInstead of enabling the plugin in the Network Admin I have enabled the Create Block Theme plugin individually within each site’s management plugin panel. So far everything’s working fine but I’ll keep visiting the 2 sites over the next day or two to confirm they’re still displaying properly.

In reply to: [Twenty Twenty-Four] Can I have two single post templates? After posting this question I have found Creating Custom Page Templates for Global Use on https://developer.www.ads-software.com/themes/template-files-section/page-template-files/ which I believe provides what needs to be done (learned) to do what I’m asking about.

In reply to: [Simple Custom Post Order] Reverse Previous/Next Bahaviour?I found a solution that works, The Previous Post / Next Post Twenty Twenty-Four theme links/functions can easily be renamed (Previous renamed as Next), the arrows can be removed and I put them in 3 columns with an All Posts link between them that takes them back to the All Archives page with everything from that trip. It works perfectly.

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Multisite migrationI’m new to using WordpPress (though I’ve been designing and managing
html/css websites for more than 20 years). “Migration” was probably the
wrong word to use.I wanted to know if UpdraftPlus could create a backup of a Live multi-site
(sub-folder) WP installation and use that backup to replace an existing
Staging version installed in a subdomain of the same domain on the same
host and shares the same database server, each with a different database.I now see that it CAN. Sorry for any confusion.

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Multisite migrationNever mind. It worked fine without any added plugin(s).
I backed up the Live site and copied the backup Zip files and database file
to the Staging site’s updraft folder. I then restored those Live site backups
to the Staging site. I accepted to have the links corrected/updated and it all worked fine, no additional plugin(s) were needed.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Multisite migrationNow I’m misunderstanding you …
Are you now saying that I need to buy both the Network-Multisite AND UpdraftMigrator Premium plugins to be able to backup and restore (or migrate) a multisite WP installation?
You earlier wrote :
“With UpdraftPlus, you can do the following
- migrate the entire multisite“
Now it sounds like I need to buy 2 plugins to do that…

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Multisite migrationAs all I want to do is migrate the entire multisite then it appears I can indeed do what I want with it. I suspect my question was not clear. Or perhaps you did not read my question properly….
Anyway … thank you for confirming UpdraftPlus can do EXACTLY what I need which is “migrate the entire multisite“.
I know … I promised not to fuss with this anymore. But I found an answer (perhaps “the” answer).
The Firefox browser has been blocking all trackers including Google Analytics by default since 1999.
The workaround is to click on the shield icon to the left of the link in the nav bar and turn off “Enhanced Tracking Protection”.
So that might explains part or all of what I have been experiencing when using Firefox with the www.ads-software.com website.
The “Waiting for google-analytics.com” that’s displays at the bottom of the Firefox browser when it stalls is part of the wp.org website (not a 3d party) and is used by wp.org to track user info and interaction with its website. I don’t care that it’s collecting data on visitors. But it doesn’t seem to be playing nice with Firefox (perhaps intentionally by Google). It will happen when I press submit on this post.
No big deal. I was just fishing for a simple fix (changing a setting) with Firefox to avoid having to hard refresh the pages when navigating around wp.org. I’ve spent too much effort on this already (you too <g>) …. so I’ll put this topic to bed.
Cheers ??
It’s not my WP website that loads slowly … <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>it’s yours</span>. It’s <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>THIS website</span> and all its pages that load slow as molasses with Firefox unless I press Shift+Reload to force the browser to not use whatever’s been cached.
When I first started visiting the www.ads-software.com website I thought it was a problem with it being hosted on poor servers. Then I discovered that it works fine with Chrome (what I prefer not to use) and can be cured when using Firefox by always doing a hard refresh when moving from one page to another. It always hangs with a waiting for google-analytics message at the bottom of the screen and frequently results in a blank white screen after 1-2 minutes … or until I press shift+reload and all proceeds fine.
PS: my own WordPress websites load just fine with Firefox,

In reply to: Adding Meta tags to head sectionsFound out that WordPress does not natively support traditional metatags so plugins seem the only sensible route. I ended up using Meta Tag Manager by Pixelite which did what I need. If this was a commercial website I might have chosen something with more SEO features .. but all I wanted was the same description and keywords the previous HTML/CSS version of the site used and was always well represented on search engines.
