Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: H3 tags uppercase only in visual editorHi. Thanks for the reply. I haven’t added very much at all to the default setup and certainly nothing that should have caused this problem.
I did notice when I originally installed WordPress some bits of code were missing (on any version I’ve installed in the last 6-9 months). For example, some of the H tags were missing code (there was nothing there for, I think it was, H4, H5 and H6). I’ve seen others discussing this elsewhere on the web. So it made me wonder if something was missing to do with the visual editor.
However, the person I work for has told me to stop looking at this problem and “get on with more important things” which is frustrating because I have a curious mind! I will keep trying to figure this out in my spare time and write a reply here if I can come up with anything useful. Thanks again.

In reply to: H3 tags uppercase only in visual editorHi. Thanks for the reply. Yes I’m using a child theme. I had changed the child style.css but didn’t know about the editor-style.css. I have changed that too now but not seeing any difference. Hmmm.
I created a new test page and H3 is still in caps in the visual editor. Is there an option that I must click on to propagate the changes? Thank you.

In reply to: Difficult custom menu questionOk thanks. I did see a plugin https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/display-widgets/ but it appears to be only on the side of the screen. I’ll read up on the pages you linked. Thanks.
Edit: Quite hard reading for a beginner but I thank you all the same. I will try and get my head around it. In the meantime if anyone can offer simple advice, that would be great. I’ve seen others searching for this online but not really any easy to use solutions.

In reply to: Difficult custom menu questionWhat solutions are open to me with regard to how WordPress can generate menus? Would it be best to use a plugin?

In reply to: New registrations disabledUpdate. I uninstalled and reinstalled but without Multisite and the ‘membership’ field in General Settings appeared. Bizarre! If I can do what I need without Multisite then that will be great. I will have a look-see.

In reply to: New registrations disabledHi Ipstenu. Thanks for the “breathe”. It’s needed sometimes ??
In my General Settings, there’s no membership field. The fields are:
Site Title
Tagline
E-mail address
Timezone
Date Format
Time Format
Week Starts On
Site languageI looked at the Create A Network page. I noticed that by default my wp-config.php already had the line:
define(‘WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE’, true);
As I mentioned before though, I don’t have the Network Admin menu in the upper right corner. Just ‘your profile’ and ‘logout’.
If you think I don’t need Multisite from what I’ve written then that’s fine with me. The easier the better! But I am still baffled why I don’t have a ‘membership’ line on my settings page.
