Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Too many redirectsAfter some reconsideration I decided to leave this feature in tact. I will monitor this behaviour for the coming time.
The initial problem with too many redirects was an issue on the WAF in front of the WordPress website.
This has been solved and also the messages with too many redirects are gone.
thanks a lot for all the replies!!
kind regards,
Rob

In reply to: Too many redirectsthanks,
Which file I have to edit?
Is there a way to check the database for the redirects or does WordPress changes them dynamically and no permanent redirects are made in the database?
this WordPress behaviour what is function/goal behind it?

In reply to: Too many redirectsThanks,
What is the correct URL that should be called? Is that?
/contact-us
?Yes this is the correct URL
If?
/contact
?does not exist, WordPress then finds?/contact-us
?and therefore correctly redirects to it.Yes /contact doesn’t exist but apparently WordPress redirects to /contact-us but it appears to many redirects are happening.
The question is also why?
/contact
?is called at all if the page URL is?/contact-us
?(assumed)? Have you set such links somewhere? Then adjust these links accordingly so that the redirection is omitted.I am checking the Database for links but couldn’t find such links until now.
Is there a way to disable this behaviour of WordPress or otherwise to correct it? What are the disadvantages if I disable it? Do I need to redirect manually or via redirect plugin?
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Too many redirectsI can’t recall that I change from /contact to /contact-us. I could have done this a long time ago. I just discover that there is an issue because Google Search Console mentioned a wrong redirect.
Yes I am using redirect plugin. But not for this. This redirection is done by WordPress. The redirection plugin also show it is done by WordPress.
So the question is where can I correct the wrong redirection made by WordPress.
the URL where is need help with is not relevant. It is a general question where can I change/correct the redirect made by WordPress.
Thanks

In reply to: [W3 Total Cache] Wordfence reports Root_Environment.php changedHi thanks,
So with the next patch the issue will be resolved and will check Wordfence if the issue returns.
Thanks

Issue is solved.
I have installed version 1.6 and Wordfence is not reporting the issue anymore.

On the WordPress forum:
https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/critical-vulnerability-claimed-but-links-dont-work/
Wordfence is reporting a security vulnerability but the link for explanation is broken. The advise from Wordfence is to deactivate and remove the plugin until there is an update. More information I don’t have.

In reply to: [W3 Total Cache] File ChangedHi,
The update of the plugin was done:
Automatically Updated W3 Total Cache Plugin to 2.2.12?
2023-01-19 02:21:13
The change was made to master.php: 2023-01-25 10:43:22
From the log it looks like the change was made from server hosting the website, so not remotely.
Is there a way to reset the file to default just to be sure the file has not been tampered with?
Thanks,
Rob

In reply to: [W3 Total Cache] File ChangedHi thanks,
I didn’t change any settings in the W3 Total Cache Settings.
That is why I mention it. Does an update of the plugin trigger a change of this file?
