    Hi

Thank you for using the plugin. I’ve re-developed it from scratch it’s a whole new software. The readme.txt does warn not to update to hastily but I do understand it’s never that simple and have been waiting on a reaction like yours.

No panic though and know that I provide my software with support. I provide it to people who want to move forward and make progress. Not just ditch it when one issue comes up or not even try a plugin because it has some 1 star ratings. So if you have a little time so do I.

It sounds like you need to simplify your headers. I’m considering allowing the plugin to work with any headers again. It has been playing on my mind. The plugin is easier to work with and more efficient right now. But I’m not sure it’s enough to pi** people like yourself off.

I’d love for you to email me and have a quick discussion about the new interface in general. The new icons that take users to videos and the WordPress Help tab now has help text in it. Most plugins don’t display that Help tab at all. Some more feedback while I have your attention would be great but I’m betting you would be happy for the plugin to simply accept your file huh!

How about emailing it to me?

    Thanks

    Hello

Six months ago you rated CSV 2 POST with a single star. The plugin has had weeks of work since and I’d really appreciate ten minutes of your time to install the plugin then re-review.

There are video and help icons on some of the features. More to be added soon. There is help text in the WordPress Help tab also. The interface looks and feels more WordPress.

Thank you for your time. A discount on the premium edition will be available in return for any time spent on this.

    Regards

    Hi

Thank you for your feedback but this plugin cannot be simplified very much. It is designed the way it is to suit a specific user, mainly developers.

There are other plugins for beginners on the market including Easy CSV Importer which we also provide. That plugin tries to deliver some of the power and ability CSV 2 POST has without a complex interface.

The most advanced software cannot have simple interfaces or make guesses. Which means CSV 2 POST requires a lot of input from the user. There is constant “chicken and egg” situations in the code which requires even more settings to tell the plugin how YOU want it to behave.

Most other importers automatically do what the average user wants with some assumptions and guessing. It does avoid the complexity but is not suitable webmasters who want to make money online or have unusual requirements in their project. That requires full control over WordPress so that auto-blogging is not easily detected by visitors.

    Latest from phpBB development…

The PHP development team announces the immediate availability of PHP 5.5.4. This release fixes several bugs against PHP 5.5.3. All PHP users are encouraged to upgrade to this new version.

That was today. I seriously question hosting who default to PHP 5.2 as I have seen recently.

Without a doubt there is still not enough tools for WordPress in this area. But both Easy CSV Importer and CSV 2 POST have been created to fill the gap. We have long task lists to deliver anything anyone wants in the area of importing.

Your specific requirement is technically possible, just not obvious. So we’ll sort that out. Some options to tell our plugins not to mess around with your posts and just update custom fields are buried among a lot of other options related to creating posts. That won’t do for you. Even once you know how, the plugin your using is still not as light as it could be.

I’m considering a different project type that doesn’t require a title template, content template etc. We could maybe do with an interface that lists all distinct meta keys and you would pair your .csv file columns to them. I would like to see the free edition get something in this area but I think most of the power will come in the paid, especially scheduling and monitoring.

Well this has been noted. Don’t be surprised if we release a plugin that focuses on your specific needs.

Yes I did think 5 custom fields was restrictive. The most advanced premium themes use around 10 so that is what we will offer in the free edition.

    Thanks for trying our plugin.

    Thank you very much.

A lot more to come for this plugin and very soon now that we’ve settled on our approach with it just recently.

Let us know anything you need.

I’m laughing because I’m not sure sure I could have said it better myself.

    Thanks for that.

Especially seeing how I’m still working on the plugin this week and yet to deliver changes in response to your feedback. Those changes are behind a bit due to WP 3.6 causing some issues.

Look at the plugins 5 star ratings and daily download rate.

I’m going to defend it and say you have to be incorrect somehow. Possible another plugin is the cause of the faults or a theme.

    Encouraging comment thank you.

I’m eager to make some progress on this very soon and I after some thought on it just yesterday I think it can be done sooner than Zara hints.

Some really cool, handy and fun features coming very soon. I would appreciate your continued, even if brutal, feedback in the next few weeks.

I’ve just uploaded a screenshot to confirm what you should see on installation. I’ve tested the plugin and no issues.

    Hey

    Thanks for trying the plugin.

I’m the main developer and I would really like to investigate this issue further. Access to your blog would be great, especially FTP. You may be rewarded with the premium edition if the problem still exists and I can run some tests by editing the plugins files on your server.

I’ll output a lot of random values to establish where the failure happens and it could be valuable information which is worth rewarding you for.

    Email myself [email protected]

I’m using the latest version and seeing these errors in my log. Not got time to work on the syntax myself so I’ll disable the plugin for now because the error is constant.

New version should be released within 24 hours.

Just got screenshots to do I think then release. A couple of known issues but nothing major. Updates will be regular from now on so anyone keen on using the plugin won’t find themselves stuck for long.

Time to get my head down.
