how can having a different order for admin versus frontend, be efficient?
It is only confusing if you ask me (and other users on GitHub). My client,
who is adding her own products, after I set up the whole shop for her,
finds it very confusing and spent hours trying to figure out why that was
not working, before reaching out to me, asking me if this is a bug in Woo.
Gets me to the same question, why do Woo experts, like you and on GitHub, can not be sure if this should work on front end or not?I agree that this is confusing, indeed, but the sorting functionality there is the default and intended design in WooCommerce and has been this way since its inception. This topic has been a subject of discussion for several years, as you can see here:
https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/issues/9104Regarding efficiency, there are various reasons why administrators might prefer different sorting orders for the back-end and front-end. For instance, an admin may want to organize product variations in a logical or intuitive manner, such as grouping color options together, to streamline the management process. Additionally, sorting variations based on stock levels or sales frequency can help admins monitor and manage inventory more effectively. There are many other reasons.

The error you are experiencing is due to a function that your hosting uses to speed up PHP. It is a server tooling compatibility issue that affects?
jsonmapper, which is used by Square. As such, there is no plan to include support in future releases from our side.
You could reach out to your host to see if they’re able to bypass or set the correct permission for the “/etc/php-fpm/php74-php.ini” file, or submit a?feature request here. If this is something that would be helpful to you and other Square users. Understandably, this does not help you at the moment, but if it is a popular request, the development team will begin working on it sooner.
