Does anyone know about a test script that reports GO/no-GO for a WordPress Install on a hosted server?

It seems that the various pre-install and post-install conditions would all lend themselves to script-based testing.

I want to add BuddyPress features to my WP and hope to find some info to help me get started. I tried to install the parts to BuddyPress, but got all sorts of complaints. My base WP is 3.4.1.

I a very green rookie with all things WordPress, but I’ve been a “computer guy” since the Sixties so I hope the new skills come easily.
