In reply to: [Restrict Categories] Plugin does not restrict access for anyoneseems this plugin is totally broken with wp 4.1 ??
yes, it is possible with s2member, but you would also need an additional plugin like user role editor to assign the appropriate “editor” capabilities to the s2member role in question, or you could add the capabilities to the s2 role via a custom plugin or functions.php etc
https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/user-role-editor/
https://www.wpmayor.com/roles-capabilities-wordpress/
sam
bbPress roles are different that normal wordpress roles, so WP plugins like user role manager and capabilities manger etc will not function as you expect
see this article about bbpress roles and capabilities, you could perhaps code something up on your own to function as you need
https://codex.bbpress.org/custom-capabilities/
or otherwise, look at restricting forums as explained in Other Integrations > bbPress Plugin Integration (2.0+ plugin version) in your S2member plugin menu

no problem, glad to help ??
i just checked again, new bbpress topics in restricted forums DO NOT require manual setting of S2 access level permissions as in the comment above, that was just a user comment which also quoted the release notes, but that comment was not part of release notes itself, hence the confusion, i assume the issue was either resolved or commenter was incorrect
one other thing thing i noticed was that “closed” posts in restricted forums are not hidden from public in widgets and recent posts lists etc, but clicking on the title will not allow access and will redirect as per S2 settings for restricted content
here are the original S2member v140816 release notes re:bbpress –
s2Member/s2Member Pro) bbPress Forum Compatibility Woohoo! This release of s2Member improves s2Member’s compatibility with bbPress Forums/Topics/Replies. It is now possible to protect a Forum with s2Member, and have all Topics within that Forum protected automatically. No changes necessary to enable this feature. If you protect a bbPress Forum, this is how s2Member will behave automatically. It’s a parent/child relationship that s2Member is now compatible with.
WARNING: If you have been running s2Member together with bbPress in the past, this change may impact you. Any bbPress Forums that are protected by s2Member will now also protect all Topics within that Forum. This improvement also impacts s2Member’s Alt. View Restrictions. If you are using s2Member’s Alt. View Restrictions, any bbPress Topics that live within a protected Forum will automatically be hidden from Alternative Views configured with s2Member.

The problem is that it does not work at all automatically and you should always manually apply the level (for us S1) in moderation of a new topic/reply.
i do not think that limitation still exists, maybe someone from S2 can chime in and confirm, new posts in restricted forum are not visible to members without required role in my own testing, but now i think i will test everything again just for fun ??
sam
well, it seems to be working for me, but don’t know if i would trust it with info that would destroy an entire town if it were to break ??
the only issue that i have noted is that restricted forum title still show up in “choose forum” drop down in create new post, although it will not allow creating a post in a given forum if user cannot access it otherwise
also note that if you wish to hide forum and post titles in widgets and searches etc from users who cannot read that content, then you must also enable alternate view restrictions in s2

s2member URI Restrictions do not work with bbpress as forum posts do not contain the parent forum title in the URL
however, s2member (since v140816) does allow restricting a forum (including protection of posts and replies in the forum) to a particular level, so you can set up private forums per member level that way
see this post for details
https://github.com/websharks/s2member/issues/116
also see bbpress section of “other integrations” in the s2 plugin menu
you can also use the wordpress user switching plugin to easily confirm that permissions are behaving as expected per role

would putting the shortcode in a href do the trick ?
this works for me –
<a href="[SHORTCODE]">PAYPAL</a>

i recently used the wordpress “duplicator” plugin to migrate a wordpress site running s2member and other plugins plus custom theme, worked perfectly, no problems at all on new server/domain

agree, old forums were much better in every way, basic wordpress plugin support tab like this is not really suitable for a complex plugin like s2member…

In reply to: [PanoPress] How to use with GigaPan.comgigapan does not currently offer a full page view embed mode, so it is not real ideal for use with panopress as there is no way to call a pano hosted on that service without the surrounding page
however, if you add a trailing slash to the end of your url like this, it will function as well as it can
[pano file=”https://www.gigapan.com/gigapans/197c0fcfb9cbd0063283816167689216/”%5D

see this article on adding quotes to cells in excel –
https://www.lenashore.com/2012/04/how-to-add-quotes-to-your-cells-in-excel-automatically/
bbpress no longer requires separate install since bbpress 2.0 was released in 2011, since then it is a standard wordpress plugin
https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/bbpress/
older bbpress 1.x would not be compatible w s2member

In reply to: [amr users] Active S2Member Users / Evaluate Datewhy not demote expired s2 members to a lower role which is not listed by amr ?
just change s2 EOT behavior to demote expired members to subscriber or somesuch, and tell AMR to ignore subscriber role on your list
