In reply to: [TreePress - Easy Family Trees & Ancestor Profiles] 404 page missingI haven’t duplicated your issue, but try looking under “Settings” / “permalinks” in your admins menu. Most likely, you want to set it to “Post name”
Try that and see if it works…

In reply to: [TreePress - Easy Family Trees & Ancestor Profiles] style.css file missingThis is a plugin, not a theme.
If you tried to install it as a theme, would would get the error message you report.
Go to “Plugins” and “Add New” and it should install fine.
You have a LiteSpeed Cache on the server – did you clear that as well?

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Site broken after updating woocommerce to 3.8It looks like you may be running https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/woo-gutenberg-products-block/ – this plugin has 2-stars – get rid of it!
(first error: “Automattic\WooCommerce\Blocks\BlockTypes\AllReviews”)
@samwebdesigns, try using URL https://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/rss/daily.xml instead…??
tl;dr Check with your web hosting tech support.
If you have a dedicated (or virtual) server and only one web site, set up sSMTP on the server and then protect the file that has the password. The only reason to use this plugin is if you need to send email via several different accounts from several different WP installs/multi-sites.
On shared hosting, the SMTP server should be active for local programs. Your control panel should have a place to put in your SMTP settings. Some shared hosting also allows send email via their SMTP daemon, but you are highly likely to get snagged in spam filters if you do this (and/or the email may not appear to be coming from you).
While there is no evidence from my sites that the email passwords were compromised, assume that your passwords were stolen.
Change your passwords!!
The “plain text” consideration is moot. Even though there is an encryption option, the program would have to decrypt the encrypted password in order to login to the SMTP server – so the hackers could also decode. That said, I check the option to encrypt the password, aware it does little good except for stupid/lazy hackers (i.e. I’m no longer the lowest-hanging fruit).
The way I have mine set up is a bit contorted and I have to stumble around a bit to get it to work. I use G-Suite email, and have to turn on 2FA, set up an app password, (?turn off 2FA,?) send a test email from the server via the app password, approve the security warning from Google (?and then re-enable 2FA).
If you have a dedicated server and only one web site, set up sSMTP on the server and then protect the file that has the password. The only reason to use this plugin is if you need to send email via several different accounts from several different WP installs/multi-sites.

When I click inside the editor box, get the following errors in the dev console:

We are (nervously) using it on 4.8.2 – one sub-site of a MU install.
It still works, but am leery of such plugins that seem idle…
In wp_usermeta table, see meta_key wp_user_avatar
for multisite, wp__2_user_avatar etc.Note that the meta_value is a number, the ID of the media library item of the photo.
Note, however, it is preferable to use an API call:
https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Function_Reference/get_avatarAlso, the same functions are now in the core code as of v. 3.6
This plugin is no longer needed – it is in the core code – https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Audio_Shortcode
https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Video_ShortcodeI have just set up a site with similar settings, but not stackable, where it works almost as expected in Android (6.0.1) Chrome and stock browsers. Sometimes, when at the bottom of the pop-up, the background will scroll. Also, I can scroll the pop-up off the bottom of the screen, but not off the top.
I am running the free version of https://www.ads-software.com/themes/responsive/
I’m thinking there may be a theme conflict on the sites where is doesn’t seem to work right…??
All-in-all, it works great – this is my first site with this plugin, but am already quite happy.

In reply to: [Shortcode Widget] Using widget in Sidebar MenuSome widgets have certain visibility as defined by the theme developer. For example, the theme I use has a sidebar that only shows on pages while another only shows up on posts.
Can you get anything to show (i.e. regular text) in that widget? or is just the shortcode content missing?
