Although I don’t see anything relevant there –maybe someone here has had the same experience and solved it ?

The current theme I wish to replace is called News Blue, it is not from the WordPress library of themes but is a tried and true working theme, it is nice, I like it and it was my first choice, but I have specific typographic issues with it and the one I want to replace it with has solved those. I posed the following question to members of my forum but have no solutions yet:
In attempting to delete my current theme,
    1. I removed the theme folder from my File Manager > wp-content > themes.
    2. Removed all the posts
    3. But the empty Home page and the About pages remain with their full theme design and I need to delete those but am not sure how
    4. So my question is How? Should I remove all the theme files listed in the Edit Themes section, one at a time, and then inactivate all the plug ins, or is there a more direct way?

After spending many hours unable to delete the theme or make it inactive so I can replace it with another that is a non-wordpress theme, or one of Court’s themes I have had no success. Here it is:

I cannot yet upload the replacement theme, it needs to be validated and W3 Validation won’t validate while the existing theme for the domain is still active, even though I’ve tried.

I have tried a non W3 validation program that does perform but it also adds the existing theme files as part of its procedures – that is why I wonder whether deleting them one by one as mentioned above will work.

I’ve searched and searched the internet and Codex and WordPress Support and cannot find any information that enables me to remove the theme – if I ever find out I will have to contribute one.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

    Thanks, Jim R.

Yes, I am aware of how to do that, you can also upload the files through the cpanel File Manager — I have done that they are there in the appropriate folder including the essential style.css and index.php files.
The problem is thatI cannot upload them throught the new themes application in the dashboard, I assume there is an error although I cannot find anything wrong after careful examination(s) but I cannot find the error and W3 validator does not help me because it insists on identifying an error in the current theme I wish to replace — tha’s the problem.

I have modified the non wordpress theme, added the necessary wordpress required items in all the required files so that it matches templaates that i know have been successfully similarly modified, my problem is I cannot upload it to wordpress and the validator answers the aforementioned question with a response to the theme I want to replace — if I can validate the new theme I would be able to identify probably whatever is preventing the wordpress upload.

How should I remove a live theme?
With just one or maybe two posts in draft mode, nothing published.
Thanks if you can help. Jim R.

Also, how do I change my password to log in to this support site? Thank you.

Another questio, is there a different routine than the one I’m using to try as an alternative does anyone know?

An additional comment on the problem: I removed the previous entries and the type size of the sidebar items went back to the original size. However thay were not at all affected by the 22px size-change nade in the css stylesheet — so that entry in the styleshhet seems to have no affect.

Then, I re-entered the “link widget” and it immediately added the title Blogroll and changed the type size to the very small size again.

I’m still baffled, can anyone make a suggestion on this ?

    thanks Jim R.

    Clayton,
I’m not sure what that means, but promising is the fact that it works for you, and yes, the original type before i loaded the blog widget was a suitable size, but it immediately reduced down to about half that original size, probably the 11px that I changed to 22px.

If you could further explain your above comments, or lead me through a procedure maybe I could get somewhere, right now I will exit entirely and reload the url. I hope you are hanging in there with me !
    I’m not ususally this dumb.

    PS,
I wonder if something later is over-riding the 22px, or whetehr there is another style sheet, if so I cannot fin it though I have looked.

Thank you for your response Clayton, however, unfortunately that does not do it, having tried it several times, no change in type size occurs there or anywhere that I can see as a result of the change,

Actuaklly the 22px that you see is there from my last attempt, the original value was 11px — which certainly is a smallish size. I’ve re-done it and updated several times, I’m baffled.

Any other suggestions I cantry ?

    Thanks anyway, Jim R.
