    Hi! thanks for following up.

I created a custom template. When i create the custom template, it automatically appears as an alternate template when creating post or page. But when i export the theme and install it again, it’s not recognised. I have to resave it, and then it does.

    Thanks for getting back.

As you said, the black popup appears and vanishes in a few seconds. A few seconds is enough for people to click on it. That’s the issue.

We are seeing the same things. It’s not about conflict.

Is there a way for that black window to not appear if we are republishing? No point to save a preview if the page is being deleted.

Hi, apologies, i hadnt seen the notification with your reply.

    • when i say republish twice, I mean that i click republish, then a slide window opens and ask Are you ready to republish? And then i click Republish again
    • We use version 4.5

When clicking on republish, there is a long time between the page to be saved, then redirected to the original page. During that time, a small black popup says “Draft saved – View Preview”. Long enough for editors to click on it.

What it does, is that it creates a draft of the rewritten page, but then the rewritten page gets deleted as it overwrites the original. But the plugin still consider that non-existing draft as a rewritten page. So the original page doesn’t allow to rewrite and republish.

    Let me recap the steps:

    • Go to page
    • Click on Rewrite and Republish
    • Make change to page
    • Save and click republish
    • Confirm I want to republish
    • The page is saving and i see the black popup at the bottom that says that the draft is saved, view preview. I click on it.
    • A 404 page appears as the rewritten page has overwritten the original page
    • Go back to the page, and i can only see Clone / Create new draft option, no Rewrite and republish
    • Go to wp-cli and search for the page title – it appears as 2 entries, with post status published and another one as dp-rewrite-republish
    • If I force delete the 2nd one wp cli delete XXX --force where XXX is the ID of the rewrite and republish one, the Rewrite and Republish option reappears on the original page.

We do tell our editors to wait for the green bar so the republish is completed but we cannot control them.

    Thanks for your support!
