    Hi Thoa,

OK, that’s what I thought too. For example, room type can be a “King Bed Room” and then you can create 15 different Rooms with type “King Bed Room”. That makes sense, correct?

But the practice seems to be the other way around:
    1. We can create web pages for Rooms, not Room Types. Shouldn’t it be the other way around? You assign Capacities to Room Types, which is correct, but Rooms selects the Room Types and a single Room can select multiple Room Types, which doesn’t make any sense. Shouldn’t Room Types be the one selecting Rooms?
    2. The pricing plan can only be assigned to Rooms, not Room Types. Shouldn’t pricing plan be assigned to Room Types?

Let me know if I am missing something here.

    Thanks.

    Hi Thoa,

Thanks for the reply. Actually, your original reply was the correct one.

I understood your suggestion but, as I mentioned, there are some serious problems with it:
    1. If someone searches for a room for a certain number of guests, wouldn’t your solution show ALL the “Rooms” that matches that number of guests AND higher, even though they are all the same room?

For example, if someone selects 6 people in his group, the result will show the rooms with 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 capacities, even though they are all the same room.

    2. This solution will be a management nightmare. If someone books the room, the manager will have to block the calendar for the other 9 “Rooms” that have been created. Any price or calendar changes require changes to all 10 virtual rooms. This will create human errors and too much unnecessary work.

Unfortunately this solution will not work. Will there be a way to get this as a fix in future release? That if a room has a capacity, the search drop down box will list all the numbers below that. Or the better way is to use a text box for the guests to fill in.

    Thanks.

    Hi Thoa,

Thanks! OK, I got it now.

On a related note, can you please explain what the difference between “Rooms” and “Room Type”? Does pricing affect rooms but not room types?

    Thanks.

    Hi Thoa,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Under my pricing plan page, there is no Date Range option, just the weekly field. I am using version 1.7.8.9.

    Thank you.

    Hi Thoa,

Thank you for your prompt response.

Unfortunately, that would not be a good solution. First, I do not want to create 10 room types to represent the same room. It would be a huge management problem. Second, for a guest who is searching for a room to accommodate 5 people, for example, 6 rooms will be displayed for the same room and that makes no sense.

Can I make a request to have the number of guests drop down to include all number <= capacity? A room that has a capacity of 10 people does not mean that it has to accommodate exactly 10 people. It can take any number of guests fewer than that.

    Thank you.
