Thanks, I’m guessing this has already been sorted as a false positive from cpguard. For anyone else still having this issue, I today deleted the Wordfence plugin, the re-installed and all working fine.

My web host has stated that there is a global issue with all websites that are running Wordfence (my web host’s own antivirus software quarantined a number of sites) and is caused by the latest version of the Wordfence, which is what I suspected. They state that resolution will only come from a Wordfence update and suggest the deletion of the plugin folder in the short-term until a fix is released.

To 7.3.6 although I have a feeling it happened when updating one of the themes (NewsCard).
The permission for the plugin folder? 755
PS The error message also said:
Warning: require_once(…/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/lib/wordfenceClass.php): failed to open stream
