  • The header is definitely too busy, I don’t know what to look at first when I visit the site. I think the house icon should be smaller and the text that says “Grandview Missouri Rental Listings” be larger/have more whitespace around it. I actually like the size of the searchbox as it stands out and doesn’t require the visitor to look for it. But I do think the “Search by” content should be in the same row as the search box and not in the header. I would also think about a different way to organize the “Post a Listing” information. I love the big footer but its content needs to be organized a little bit better. Maybe you can split it into two different horizontal rows having the first having a lighter blue background color? Overall its a great site just needs a little bit more organization and a more clear hierarchy of info.

Also great concept for the website. I might even try this in my area! I live in a college town so it could work out well.

I strongly agree with Leif about the music. It is completely unnecessary and will hurt you in the long run.

As soon as I edited the home.php it worked for me, there is something else wrong. I don’t know what else you edited but a few other elements on the page look off so I would download a fresh version of the theme again and go from there.

Good luck, if you figure out how to solve it let us know.

I downloaded the theme and took a look at it. Editing the h1 tag in the home.php file did the trick for me.

    Great design!

I would add a transparent png image to the bottom of the image on the homepage where the text is. It will make the text a little bit easier to read against the image.

Good job on a solid start to your new design!

I have a few recommendations for you regarding the post titles:

    1. The links directly under your post titles are very distracting due to their length and close proximity.

    2. Try changing up the font type for the post titles to a serif.

    3. Try changing the color of the post titles or the content excerpt to further differentiate themselves from one another.

These are just a few of my own recommendations, please take them with a grain of salt. Keep up the good work and continue to tweak your design.
