Aaarrgggh, got it. It was a cross site referenced plugin that blocked things.

This is really weird. There is no conflict showing up in console or php query (at least none that I can find). But the plugin is running fine on my test site on a far away web server and I just pasted in the code from that test site to my local installation and the result is just fine. It looks like it should. So it’s just my local backend that is having problems.

Sometimes things turn out surprisingly simple.

I downloaded the .gpx files, deactivated the plugin, reactivated the plugin, uploaded the .gpx file that had caused an error cascade, and now everything seems fine again.

Probably just eddies in the space-time-continuum.

I restored the ?> after the “critical error”. Clearing all caches doesn’t change anything.

Now I took out

completely and cleared the cache again. No change.

Nope. Deleting ?> caused a “critical error” on the website.

The really weird thing is that the plugin only partially fails.

This is what I get from the plugin

‘Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to a member function registerXPathNamespace() on boolean
in /var/www/vhosts/mydomain.de/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/wp-gpx-maps/wp-gpx-maps-utils.php on line 535’

And then follows an extremely long error stack listing WordPress and Genesis conflicts.

A quick workaround is [eme_events limit=1000]

No sweat. I just commented that line out. Will work for now.

Font Awesome icons that may be used on a website are not displayed anymore when the latest version of this plugin is installed. It affects every page, not only those that actually contain a map.

I have the same problem. The Font Awesome conflict is not only on pages where there is a map (https://wohngemeinschaften.smmp.de/). It affects the entire website (https://static6.smmp.de/).

Wow, that was an amazingly fast repair job. Version 0.74.1 works nicely overhere with WP 4.8.2

Neither do I. Unfortunately, that page template has to communicate with Genesis Framework on my site. Did anybody figure out a genesis template for this plugin?

I just activated that link to WP and plugin in the settings (still don’t know what that means) and suddenly I see something.

Now, it’s just an issue with mixed content as all my websites run over https.

That link is deactivated. To me it looks like a bug in the plugin that leads to javascript not being loaded. That’s why the scrollshow doesn’t work. Why I only get a grey page when logged in is something I don’t fathom.

Sorry, that snippet has two bugs. That’s why it didn’t work.
