We experienced the same issue with broken links (404 – Not Found) containing dates when using the Monthly view (all other views worked fine), even after updating to the most recent version.
To resolve this what we did was as follows:
- Manually deleted /wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar directory via FTP (leave any other The Events Calendar plugins untouched)
- In the WordPress Dashboard go to PLUGINS and you should have a warning to install The Events Calendar plugin.
- Re-Install The Events Calendar plugin using the [Add New] button.
Hope that helps as it took us several restores from backup (both files & database) before we were able to isolate the simple process above to resolve the issue.

Thank you so much for the fast reply Simon! You are absolutely correct, the PHP function money_format() doesn’t work on some flavors of Linux (like newer versions of Ubuntu or derivatives), FreeBSD, OpenBSD, or Windows. Since v1.0 of this plugin works for us so we will use that, although the code example in the link you provided does the trick as well.
