Makes sense. I’ll give it a whirl and report back.
It would be great if this could in fact work with pages as well while in a child theme environment. Not sure if it’s possible but I have one application where it would be of great benefit.

In reply to: [WPMS Sidebar Login Widget] Cannot be activated@joshmac I have several instances of it happening. See an example here where the second and third widgets have jumped from the sidebar on logout:

In reply to: [WPMS Sidebar Login Widget] Cannot be activatedI seem to be having instances where the plugin works fine when logged in, but when logged out the widget’s instance in the sidebar pushes all other widgets out to the footer (in my case anyhow). I’ve looked for all sorts of conflicts and can’t find anything.
Awesome!
Any developments on this issue?
OK, so I just downloaded 1.6.1.4 and installed in 3.1 with multi-site. The plugin will work with pages, however when you choose a page by checking the box in the widget area, the widget doesn’t retain the ‘checked box’ and so you can’t tell if it’s active on a page or not. Still testing but this is what I’ve found so far.
Anyone know the results of this exercise. I have exactly the same problem, hoping it will work with multi-site.

Awesome…but if I understand you widgets can’t be excluded by the title you give them? I’m looking for the ability to exclude editing on some instances of Text widgets versus all Text widgets (type), though failing that I guess I could limit it to the sidebar ID where they appear.
If I was using the above code, how would I exclude “footer-1” as an example of a widget area to exclude or “Text” as an example of excluding Text widgets or “Primary Sidebar” as an example of a sidebar to exclude.
This is a great feature btw…
Thx

Try wpebooks.com and look for the Replicator plugin. Allows you to make an exact copy of a blog, including active plugins, widgets, etc. Everything but comments.

In reply to: [Front-end Editor] [Plugin: Front-end Editor] Error: Already EditingWorks great!
One item I’d like to see in the future is the ability to add fine editing capabilities. So, for example, some widgets could be editable and some might not if that was your choice. I’m trying to figure out if a plugin like Widget Logic could be used somehow to do this, where conditional tags might be used to prevent a widget from being editable.
Thoughts anyone?
