That absolutely worked for me. My reference was also on line 418.

Thanks, once again. I surely do appreciate the help.

i did and got nothing in the localhost development mode. I then installed the stand alone version of the widget visibility plugin and that worked fine fo all of the widgets except the one I wanted to hide.

I was also able to connect to Jetpack on my live site by replacing the .htaccess file with the one that came with WordPress. Of course, I am now getting much more of the long, rambling spam that I had blocked but that’s the way it goes.

    Thanks for the reply.

Finally got it to work by going back to the original .htaccess file generated when first installing WP.

Not certain how .htaccess got changed, but it must have somehow. All is good now, except that I still can’t get the Jetpack function “Widget Visibility” to show up.

This is a problem as it was the sole reason I installed Jetpack to begin with. C’est la vie!

My site is most assuredly publicly available:

    https://www.myfirstbaptist.net

I still get the 403 error and the plugin doesn’t work properly in localhost development mode, either. I must be doing something wrong or there is an incompatibility somewhere other than the other plugins.

I am still having the 4.0 issue as well and this is more of an “FYI” post than a possible solution. We are running the Outreach child theme.

I, too, tried disabling some (not all) plugins to no avail, as well trying four different PHP versions, from 5.2 through 5.5.

I’m currently using PHP 5.4 as I’ve heard that WP doesn’t play well with 5.5. So far, I haven’t seen any differences in the way WP 4.0 works with the various PHP versions.

All I’m trying to do is look at the preview, which has zero images shown. The “Max” logo appears and that’s it.
When look at the “Available Themes” section, the theme looks great, images and all. When I click on “Live Preview” not one image shows in the preview. I’ve even installed the theme in an attempt to see what it might look like when “live”, but still no images except Max.
I don’t want to go further with it if all the image links are broken but I don’t quite know what to do next. I added a “featured” category and linked the included Hello World post to it; No images.
You can tell that I’m a novice at WordPress, but shouldn’t the live preview work better than what I’m experiencing?
    Thanks for your help.

I seem to be having a similar problem in that I cannot seem to add any themes, widgets, etc.
Under the ‘Appearance’ select item on the Dashboard, it appears that I should have a number of selections but I have only ‘Themes’ and ‘Editor’. In addition, it appears that I should have an “Install Theme” tab along with the “Manage Themes” tab, but that, too, is missing.
I have but one user, admin, and the meta-value for it is (as indicated above) a:1:{s:13:”administrator”;s:1:”1″;}.
Can you give me any reason as to why can I not install widgets, plugins, themes, whatever?
I am running on a localhost using Wamp server.
    Thanks.
