How do we get them to display in comments and wp-admin when posting?

I don’t really understand what you mean. But you can get them to display by typing : – ) or : – ( or anything like that (at your choices). These “shortcut” can be defined by yourself using Smileys Manage under your Manage panel

How are visitors suppose to know that
“” means a angel face, or :vsad: means very sad face?

    Will wp-grins work with this?

If it’s easier to implement than wp-grins I may switch to this. WPG was a b*&^h to get working, but has been sturdy for the last 3 or 4 upgrades.

I’ll definitely take a look at it, thanks for posting! ??

It’s time for me to release Custom Smileys 2.0.

Now you don’t have to manually refress Smileys Manage page any more. This bug has been fixed.

Moreover, if you have deleted some of your smileys, or use the same emotion for different smileys; Custom Smileys 2.0 will remind you about these mistakes. It can also fix some of these errors automatically for you.

    Check it out: https://lazyanduseless.belike.net/wp/?p=31

Updated to Custom Smileys 2.1. Minor bugs fixed. Now Valid XHTML 1.0. Tested with WP 2.0.

Please note that the uninstall feature might NOT work with WP 2.0. I’ll fix it soon.

Just a small note. I updated the plugin to Version 2.3 and change the information URL to https://www.lazyanduseless.belike.net/txp/custom-smileys.

    Thank you for reading this.

Well, I’ve just release Custom Smileys version 2.4 – rebuild from scratch. Now it comes with better smileys handling, support clickable smileys, which is integrated directly to your Write page as well as the comment form.

This is a great plugin, and is easy to install and get working. One question though: How do I get more smilies? There’s only 5, and I’d kinda like more, like what you show on your download page.

    Thread Starter quanganhdo

    (@quanganhdo)

Obviously, you must have a collection of smilies.

Then, upload all of them to your wp-images folder and activate this folder via Options page.

    That’s it!
