Thank you! I have tried a couple of manual installs and they seem to be working, so I’ll try to update them all and then update WordPress. Maybe that will solve the problem? I don’t really want to have to do manual installs forever. ??

Thank you! I had to completely delete it and it appeared to fail again on the install, but when I reloaded the page it’s there. Seems to be working now. ??

I could view the login page just fine, but upon entering username and password, I got the error every time. I tried it in both Firefox and Chrome in case it was browser-related, but no luck.

I’ve also deleted the plugin and re-downloaded and installed, still throwing the fatal error.

I saw there was an update today so ran that, and tried to reactivate the plugin just to see…got the message “Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”

Thanks, James! But if it were a plugin or theme, the pages would not work with the amended URL either, would they?

If you look at the latter two links in my OP, the second works perfectly, while the first yields the white screen. A plugin or theme issue should affect both the same, shouldn’t it?

UPDATE – I got back in by throwing caution to the winds and editing the wp-config file. The initial problem of the URL display remains, but I’m not going to worry any more about that right now.

Me too, it completely stopped both my sites working.

I’ll go back to them. Thanks for the help!

*Sigh* Firebug finds only the most basic HTML for the page. I get an “access denied” response when I try to rename the plugins folder.

I have been in contact with the hosts, but all their other sites (including WP sites) are running fine, so they’re kind of mystified, too.

I should have mentioned that this problem is affecting two sites, both of which use different themes and plugins. Both are hosted at the same host, but are separate installs.

Looking at the source yields nothing but another blank page.

I will try renaming the plugins folder and install Firebug. Thanks for the ideas!

P.S. I do have FTP access but I don’t want to start mucking about until I know exactly what I should do. ??
