I appreciate your help. I did all of that an the blog crashed; well the theme was destroyed and the blog obviously didn’t work. That’s alright, really, as it is relatively “young” and there are not many posts, all of which I “export” following any post to one of my blogs. So, I removed the blog altogether and reinstalled via my hosting service using the “default” WordPress theme. It is now absolutely “fresh” with no plugins.

And, I still can’t upload a .pdf file to a post, via either function provided by WordPress. Any other ideas. The site is https://www.sreoblog.com.

I had a problem as well with the error message:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare pclziputilpathreduction() (previously declared in /home/steve/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade/lib/pclzip.lib.php:5421)

Yes, I did, but unfortunately and mea culpa I didn’t implement: I was hoping against hope that this fine program which has worked flawlessly until now wouldn’t really require that. I suppose I’ll have to go through that now. Thanks for the response.

For the record, it’s not that I don’t appreciate WordPress and all who contribute to it, it’s just that I’m sort of the “ain’t broke, don’t fix” view. That said, thanks again.

Using 2.51 I get an http error and can’t upload anything, not pdfs, text files. What’s going on? I’m thinking about reverting to 2.0.

Again, thanks, and perhaps I’ve found a new issue: This was not necessarily a WordPress 2.5 issue and may well be an Internet Explorer problem. I was able to accomplish the insertion with FireFox, but not with IE (whatever the current version is) running under Vista.

Thanks, but there’s nothing to click on: I get the two blanks with red asterisks beside them. The files are uploaded, but do I have to actually insert the URL? In the older version one just put in the text?

I survived EasyWriter 1.0 (and still have the T shirt) and still haven’t a clue as to what that Asynchronous Communications software was.

I reinstalled XP recently and with it, of course, ZA Security Suite. The firewall seems superfluous as I’ve a router and I had it turned off previously. I must say that this was a lot easier to resolve than issues with HostComm and a Hayes 300 baud modem 20+ years ago on my PC 1. Have a great and prosperous New Year.

Wow, that’s really odd. I don’t believe I made any changes to Zone Alarm, but once I shut it down, I was able to login. Again oddly, ZA has been running for months and this hasn’t been a problem. But thank you ALL. Damn, what a wonderful forum and grand participants. I appreciate it so much. Truly this is a shining example of Internet Community. I did follow Samboll’s link and did everything, step by step: input a new password and made it MD5 and it still doesn’t work. The site functions just fine, but I can get into the Dashboard. Well, I can with /wp-admin, but when I try to do anything, it throws me back to the login screen which won’t take the new password.
