Another update: I wrote another post today, and shared it to Facebook. The Like button (I think) is now working on all posts made after my first few! So every post from now on will be able to be shared via Like, but I don’t think I’ll be able to fix my first few.

Do you think that would strip my share counts? Or can I add the developer code into JetPack to make it work?

Okay thanks. This is probably the best example of the Like button being broke–when you click Like, it only shares the word “The.”

Thanks for responding deepbevel!! Yes, I have tried that. But I am now using JetPack for WordPress for sharing, because all the other features (Twitter, Facebook share, etc) work. Just the Like that is not using the OG tags.

Would an example like a link to the page that isn’t working help?

Update: I’ve tried clearing cache and uninstalling plugins. Nothings working. Would a link help?

Can I manually overwrite it in the File Manager on Control Panel?

Yes, I even developed an app so the OG tags would work! All of the OG fields are populated, but I think something else is overwriting it.

Thanks, I found out I might need to edit the OG tags, but I’m not sure if you can put a picture link in the metadata. Haven’t found any OG tag plugins…

Another update: I’m fine with the favicon, the primary concern is associating a picture with a post so when people “Like” it, it shows up on their FB

Update: Sharing the link works fine. “Liking” it pulls up the chicklet from the bottom corner. “Liking” also only shows one word for the description, instead of the custom post description.

For anyone interested, I ended up editing the php file to insert ‘via @username’ after the post title. so now it is “post name via @username | shortened link”. I guess that’s an okay compromise/workaround for now…

Thanks for the help Rev. Voodoo! STC is almost what I’m looking for – it shortens the link AND it includes my username ?? Now if only I can get it to appear with the other sharing icons instead of in its own place…. Can I replace the JetPack tweet button with STC tweet button?

Although I just found out technically Jetpack uses Sharedaddy for sharing?

I’m hosting it on a different site (using .ORG) so I guess it is a plugin. I meant I wasn’t using AddThis or ShareThis. I’ve seen the “via @username” and shortened links on other .ORG blogs so I know it can be done somehow…
