Sorry for not being clear enough. When you see some detailed steps, I believe it will be clearer:

1. Put your file on dropbox and obtain a public link the way you did before.
2. Visit that URL
3. Rightclick the blue Download button and copy the link location. You’ll see it’s on https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com and THAT is the direct link to your file. Paste that link into WP Clone. Should work.

There are many possible causes. I was getting the “valid URL” error because the site is in our intranet and WP 3.6+ disallows downloads of files from 10.x.x.x and other local/intranet IPs.

thechamp, your issue is that the link Dropbox provides is an html page with the download link there.

Try visiting your original link and grabbing the direct url from the Download link. WP Clone should be able to use that. It should start with “dl.dropboxusercontent”

An even easier way, long-term, is to put the file into your Public folder in Dropbox. Then you get the direct link without the html page getting in the way.
