I go into a bit more detail on what has been reported and offered up a solution in the form of the development version of my plugin. From my testing the changes in that development plugin version resolve the issue. Are you able to try that and report back if it works for you?

As I said the functionality of the plugin is not affected and the Notices in the error logs are just that and are showing based on php.ini configuration and WP_DEBUG set to true – in the interim these can be changed on a site by site basis to reduce the logging of this notice.

Please let me know if you can try the development version and let us all know here.

Thank you for reporting this issue.

From what I can determine the plugin functionality is not compromised but if you are running a site or developing in a site with the plugin active and WP_DEBUG is set to true you will indeed see many Notices in the server log file.

Setting define( 'WP_DEBUG', true ) to define( 'WP_DEBUG', false ) can reduce the Notices like those reported logged to your server file and the plugin still works.

However, I do have an update to my plugin that is in the trunk folder. The update can be downloaded for testing from the following link (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/featured-image-admin-thumb-fiat/advanced/) and choose “Development Version”

If you do download that and are able to upload and test it on your server please do so. And assuming the Notices disappear and no other unexpected behavior attributable to this plugin occurs then I would be grateful if you can report back so I can then plan to update the plugin with that fix.

Thanks for taking the time to comment on my plugin.

Based on the details provided in your comment I have tried and failed to see original size files being used to display thumbnails for either existing uploaded media files or new images uploaded by my plugin. However, if I do encounter the issue you describe I will take action to rectify it.

I too get distorted columns when I use plugins and if it becomes possible to easily order and/or size columns based on a user preference I will plan to integrate that into my plugin.

Can you try installing the plugin from that folder and report back in this thread?

So, to clarify, this pixelated issue appears with thumbnails generated by my plugin and as displayed in the All Posts column (and other All Post Types columns) in the WordPress admin dashboard?

From what you describe and without necessarily referring to the public facing website link you provided, if you have existing images perhaps try installing and using the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin and then use the Tools, Regenerate Thumbnails option.

That tells WordPress to look through the media library and see if any thumbnail sized images are missing for each image in the media library. It will create any missing thumbnail sized images and these can then be available for display when my plugin requests the thumbnail images for display in the WordPress admin dashboard.
