    Aha – thank you.

    Very helpful.

Take a look at version 1.4.2 – the default if you download the plugin from the plugin page – and see if that helps out with this issue.

Please let me know whether it resolves the issue or report back with any other comments.

Thank you for using my plugin.

    Hi David,

Sounds like a conflict with another plugin or a theme feature.

If you are able to try activating my plugin only on your WordPress installation with a WordPress theme like Twenty fifteen, Sixteen or Seventeen and see what happens.

If there is no issue then progress to using the desired theme / additional plugins activating them one by one to see if you still get the same issue.

Additionally, take a look in the browser console for any errors or informational notices that might link back to a theme or plugin.

If you are using a language variant of WordPress then there may not be a translation for “Set Featured Image” and hence it’s blank, however, I’m clutching at straws a little bit in the hope of inspiring a path to a solution.

Let us know how you get on.

    Thank you

    Hi,

I think this has cropped up before and I did not end up with a satisfactory solution in code, however, I will take a moment to see if I can do this and include in a future release. Thank you for reporting this feature request.

Thank you for using my plugin.

    Hi,

The expected behavior when no featured image exists (or if a featured image is later removed from a content item) is the display of clickable wording “Set Featured Image”. That allows you to Quick Add for those content items without a featured image.

Thank you for using my plugin.

    Hi Larry.

First, thank you for using my plugin.

I have only just seen this support entry so apologies for the delay in responding.

I have the latest version of WordPress (from the development trunk @ 4.8-alpha) and am using the Twenty Seventeen theme. With the latest version of my plugin I get the correct modal when I click on a featured image or the “Set featured image” and after choosing or changing an image I am returned to the Posts list screen and the image has been changed.

Are you still encountering this issue?

    Thank you again.

    Hi,

    Thank you for the feedback.

I have since installed the Admin Management Xtended” plugin and with just that and my plugin enabled using the Twenty Seventeen theme on the latest version of WordPress I am not seeing that behavior. So I’m not so sure it’s a conflict with just those two plugins.

I did think of having an option to choose the side / position of the thumbnail but have yet to address it and perhaps I can give it more thought based on your experience.

Thank you for using my plugin.

    Hi,

I’ve tried again, based on your report, to duplicate this issue with no success.

If you do have some time to validate if this is still an issue and can help with some steps to reproduce it please open another issue and I will gladly look into it further.

Thank you for using my plugin.

    Hi,

So from what I can determine based on your reports if a post has a featured image set but that featured image id is blank or invalid then my plugin doesn’t know how to handle that and just displays a blank.

However, when you manually set the featured image to a valid image the correct featured image id is set and my plugin read and displays that successfully.

My plugin doesn’t set an invalid image as a default either but it does sound like there is or was missing media / uploads and that prevented my plugin from displaying anything based on featured image ids that did not resolve correctly.

I will see if I can improve my plugin to better handle this issue in the future.

Thank you for using my plugin.

    OK, great.

Recall I suggested checking your browser console to see if it was generating errors on your All Posts screen:

Are you able to look in your browser console when viewing the admin dashboard? With Chrome you can right click / Inspect element, click on Console and then refresh the admin page.

If you see some errors then perhaps attach another screenshot showing those.

If you can do this it might help me out a little more.

    Thank you

    Are you still experiencing difficulties?

I am having difficulty replicating the issue and am not sure what else I can suggest unless you have any further detail to share.

    Thank you

    Hi,

I’m not really sure whats going on so I have a few questions for you to help with the diagnosis. Do you experience your issue with a default theme like twentyfifteen or twentysixteen and all other plugins disabled except Featured Image Admin Thumb?

Do you have the “Thumb” column in the All Posts view?
Do you see either a thumbnail image or “Set Featured Image” in the Thumb column for all posts in the All Posts view? If not can you create a new post, save as draft, review the All Posts screen and see if the behavior changes.

And the same questions for the “All Pages” view.

If you are still experiencing the issue can share some screenshots with Cloudup or some other image sharing service to help describe the issue for me. I have been unable to replicate it with WP 4.6.1 or the latest build of WP 4.7 and the twentyseventeen theme.

Nonetheless, thank you for using my plugin.

With Chrome you can Inspect element, click on Console and then refresh the admin page.

If you see some errors then perhaps attach another screenshot showing those.

Other than that I have also tried a clean installation of WordPress and just my plugin active and it works as expected.

Is there any more information you can gather about your circumstances?

If you are still unable to continue then the only thing left is for you to grant me access to your site and possibly to your hosting environment to see if there’s something I can see.

    Hi,

I did remove the “edit” pencil in 1.4.1 (June 2016) due to previous feedback citing space concerns on admin dashboards so it’s not surprising to hear that it “missing”. However, you should still be seeing the wording “Set featured image” if no featured image has been set for a post.

Do you know if you recently upgraded any other plugins perhaps? Perhaps there is a conflict?

And assuming you can test it would be great if you could disable all other plugins except Featured Image Admin Thumb and see if the wording returns and the plugin still performs as expected. Then we might be able to troubleshoot some more.

Also, if you only recently upgraded Featured Image Admin Thumb check that all the files we downloaded and installed – perhaps delete and re-install the plugin.

I am not aware of any incompatibility with the most recent release of WordPress so it is unlikely to be related to that.

You might also look in your browser console to see if the admin page is generating any errors on page load.

So, I’m not sure what could be causing this but any further information you can provide would be helpful.

Thank you for using my plugin.

    You could use this function:

    $venue_id = tribe_get_venue_id();

More information on this function here:

    tribe_get_venue_id

I hope it helps get you in the right direction.

I’m on the fence about the column position.

I have tested it locally and might include it in a future release.

However, I have recently removed the pencil icon based on feedback ??

I’m going to close this for now.

Thank you for using my plugin.
